Thanks Mr Vine for the kind words, I own both the RR and now the Rose Craft I will do a side by side comparison of the two. And let you know what I find, I have the regular Rough Ryder bow trapper in stock but that’s not a fair comparison because of the $50 price difference but I’ll order a RRR020 Panthera not the same but close enough for comparison.

Thanks, you’re right lots of modern “ reproductions “out there bit on one of those 20 years ago. Education can be expensive.

From what my sales rep tells me they are not made in the same RR factory. I hear from internet research that there is an area in China with several factories that are producing higher end knives like these, same as Seki Japan does, meaning an area or region of a country. I do not remember where or what province in China it is.

With that, my sales rep is Andy Armstrong, and he left SMKW to be a part of RoseCraft. He is also lead designer at RC, and his influence is seen in both knife brands. Glad you like the Skinner Mark! ::handshake::

What are your findings in comparing? Jamie, the RR Reserve would be more comparable.

Yes that’s what I said, I sell a bunch RRR but they have a tendency to discontinue stuff that I have had luck selling…like the Hippo toe with green Micarta, it was like a chunk of lead but nice knife… I just order another elephant toe for my store, thinking thay may stop making it too. ::shrug:: it’s like a anchor too but in blue Jean micarta

Needed a new kitchen knife and found this Rough Rider 2196 Sous Chef for $15 that I just couldn't pass up. Hefty fella at 5 1/8" closed with a razor sharp 4 1/8" Santoku style lock back blade and black Micarta handle. For once my wife approves of another knife purchase since now I can't wait to slaughter some veggies!
