Qualified annually with +P ammo in my mod 60 for 2 decades. Sucker would get so hot you couldn't touch it but no damage.

Isn't a model 60 a 357 mag?

Not this one. It is clearly marked as a 38. I suspect there is a 357mag version. This one was made from 1969 to, or thru, 1972 according to a book I found at the show today.

Ray, for several weeks I have been looking for a snubbie with hammer for daily carry. You found it. But I am inspired to keep looking.

Beside hammer and hammerless, there is another option like this 638-3, 38 Spl +P. It is the best of both worlds, has a hammer for those of us that want one, but the hammer is shrouded to prevent snagging on clothing when being drawn from concealment. This Airweight has an aluminum frame with stainless cylinder and barrel.

Here is my Model 60-3 purchased about 35 years ago and carried as my backup and off-duty weapon. I don't believe it's ever fired anything but +P ammo as that was dictated by department regs. Grip is Pachmeyer with grip extension which really improves shootability and helps control recoil of hot loads. Hammer was bobbed by dept armorer for snag-free draw from deep cover.

For those of you who carry a snub 38, I have tried these factory loads in my S & W Airweight and they shoot very well. From left, Hornady Critical Defense Lite which is a 90gr high velocity load (not +P) with less recoil, Hornady Critical Defense +P 110gr, and Federal Punch +P 120gr HP. As you can see in the close up, both of the Hornady loads are the FTX bullet with polymer tip, the Federal has a large hollow jacketed soft point.

Be wary of those Hornady polymer tips in auto pistols ...
Bought some for my Ruger LC9 for a carry load. They absolutely would not feed. The poly tip would catch on the feed ramp, even after polishing the ramp. Not trying to knock them, presumably they feed in autos with less steep ramps



Someone mentioned a hammered .38 ..... here is my S/W 637 Airweight. +P rated
Supposed to be my fishing partner, only I haven't been since I bought the pistol !

Being you all are showing off your little J frames, here is mine. 360j Airweight. It is chambered for .357mag but no thanks, won’t be doing that. Got it in a pawnshop in Prescott Valley, AZ. when I was on vacation a couple of years ago. With my FFL I was able to take it with me.

Y'all showing these fine snub nosed revolvers, got me to thinking how much I miss carrying a wheel gun. I had an old S&W Victory model that had a short barrel, I think it had been modified (cut) and I carried it for years. Somehow, I ended up with some 9mm pistols and have been carrying them but I still like the reliability of a revolver considering the feeding problems and such that keep popping up in different forums and publications.
Almost got enough itch to go lookin' for one.

A tad short on the bottom end, but fits my small hands near perfect.

I've got the same one John, I bought it with several other pistols from a retiring policeman here in town.

Nice, Lyle. I have a shoulder holster and use it sometimes at the farm when hiking on the mountain as a bear warning device.

Speaking of +P ammo, the PD mandated carrying and qualifying with Remington R38S12 ammo only for 38spcl. It was a +P hollowpoint, unjacketed semiwadcutter. Crazy heat and recoil and would leave a ton of lead in the barrel. There was only one FFL in the DFW area that carried it and would only sell to Dallas PD.

If you can find some check it out. Tons of fun if you like that sort of thing. Which I do.

The gun cannot fire under those conditions because of the hammer block safety, so not a problem.

Very nice firearms shown recently and from the beginning of the OP! Love this thread.

Picked up this one awhile back. Just browsing but caught my eye as unusual but desirable.

SIG SAUER P938 SAS. For those whom are unaware, the acronym SAS in regards to SIG, stands for SIG Anti Snag System. I have owned one or two prior and they were dehorned, limited slide serrations, etc.

The new model, P938-9SAS2B as shown in my pictures below, had no external sights on the slide. The sights are the FT Bullseye, which stands for Fiber Tritium Bulleye. Grip likely Hogue and superb for my large hands. Rubber. Perfect firmness for extra grip.

Difficult to describe in words but feel to me is excellent 10 yard gun. Like a shotgun in aiming if used from quick defensive draw, more of a point not aim (like a shotgun), slide is the aim. Head and gun upper body movement in sync subsequent shot if utilizing FTB sight. Like I said, 10 yard gun for my intended use. Usually a backup anyway

YMMV as there are so many excellent makers/ models alternatives. Here is link. Not dog in this fight as far as promoting it. Just sharing ...

Personally, when Clint passes, will be a sad day for me. Love his attitude and work. Turned around Carmel for a bit as Mayor. Never used his fame to spew his politics as far as I know. Don't know him personally, but from what I know, a good man in my book.

Besides the phenomenal Westerns, Dirty Harry, Heartbreak Ridge, etc...
