GEC#47 Viper question

Hello, New to the forum here. I love my GEC #47 Viper, but when the knife is closed, i sometimes cut myself on the tip of the blade. For example, when i'm pulling it out of my pocket. Do you think the blade is not fit well in the handle? Has anyone else had this problem? In addition to getting nicked by the tip of the blade when it is in the closed position, the back of the tang has also cut me. I've never had this problem with a knife before. Has anyone encountered this problem and have any suggestions on how I can fix this beauty? Thank you

Those are flaws. You should contact GEC and send it to them for adjustments. Warranty and contact info can be found on the GEC website. They can modify the kick to allow the blade to seat lower into the frame, and smooth off that sharp corner on the tang. They probably will do it for you under their warranty but if not there are knife mechanics who are members here that can do it.

Those are not hard things to fix. With a fine metal file. Just barely take that sharp corner off the tang.

File the little nub on the tang. It’s called the kick, it hits inside the knife and regulates how deep the blade sits in the well. A little makes a big difference. So check after each file stroke.

If you are at al uncomfortable with doing it yourself sending it back is a good idea. They shouldn’t have let it out like that.

Yeah, those things aren't hard to fix, but I'm totally amazed that GEC would sent out a knife with the blade "peeking" like that!

Yeh, mine isnt like that. Ive seen a lot of their "S" knives that dont pass the final inspection wich had a flaw I couldnt find even with a magnifier.. I bet they will cure it for ya.

If you bought it new, I would send it back for replacement or fixing.

just take a dremel to the kick until it closes deep enough. Dont waste time sending it back.
