They're ok now, but unused and seem flimsy. I'm wondering if i can just redo the pin on it and tighten up their action. The spring likewise seems cheap, but easy to replace (and likely to need replacing).

It's odd because the rest of the knife is solidly built. Good buy for 10 bucks. Im into the 70's and 80's knives from Japan. Good quality, and often seem to be famous knife maker's rookie cards, if you will.

That's my Etsy store where I sell old knives and sometimes handmade knife accessories to support my knife habbit. Thanks for looking my friend. ::tu::

Thanks for your prior compliment, I'd missed it until just now while doing a re-read. ::handshake::

And the Buck you posted is absolutely gorgeous, it's so nice to see models with covers other than the plain ole' brown wood one's we always see, and that knife is outstanding with those beautiful examples. The inlay is pretty sweet, too!

Garry!

Unlike yourself, I've been following Tony in his Corn Creek Cutlery store and on the forum pretty much since he arrived not long ago.
He is a qualified agent for Rosecraft Blades, and as you now know has many very nice models in his store.

My first R/C knife was their "Zembesi" model, and since that knife Tony "bombed" me a copy of their "Castorea" model which I posted earlier in this thread and am liking very much. So much so that I ordered a copy of the model you received and posted, their 4 1/2" "Riverbend" skinner immediately afterward.
I am thoroughly impressed with these knives, and as you said their low price makes them a pleasure to buy. I was talking price with Tony recently and I was saying I don't know how he can turn a profit with the low prices he lists, to which he replied "I do alright".
He's a great guy to deal with, modest as the day is long, and an absolute gentleman ta boot!

You may wish to backtrack in this thread to view my post of the "Castorea" model, I think you'll be impressed with that model as well!

Quick Steel wrote: Fri Feb 23, 2024 3:41 pm A couple of years ago I made it a practice to review each of the AAPK stores once a month. Then we got a lot of new stores in a fairly short period of time and it was no longer practical for me to make a regular investigation of each store. So I was taken by surprise when I stumbled upon the Corn Creek Cutlery story which was offering a brand of knives I had never encountered before, i.e. Rosecraft Blades

The individual knives looked to be of excellent quality, but of course one can't really be certain of quality based only on a photo. Consequently, I chose a pattern I liked and placed an order. The knife I received yesterday was very impressive.

The materials and workmanship were superb. With fine grind lines, the well polished blade is set off by Black Micarta covers. This 4.25" knife comes with tight runup, solid half stops, and a good degree of sharpness. The very modest price was a pleasant surprise.

Not so much a mail call, but did pick these up today at Blad Show Texas. Good show for customs , factory built and handle, and makers materials but virtually no old knives to see. I met the people from Rosecraft Blades, super friendly and helpful, gave the a shout from Corn Creek Cutlery while there too. Love the gunstock, got the cane cr ek too, and a Cobratec hidden release trapper.

They were super nice people. I like the cobratec, decides to save the extra $40 and get the horn over the stag. It will need a little breaking in to get a bit smoother but still works well. The Gunstock Rosecraft is flawless and great in the hand, I like the black with the spade shield, I’m really impressed with it.

That's pretty. The dogs are some sweeties, Quick Steel got me looking and man they made some beauties. Congrats.

Looked at a lot of Kephart style fixed blades and got hooked but never seem to see them in stag. So, did the next best thing. Got a blade blank from Condor and some Elk antler from Oregon Antler Works and have a new home made shop project for half the price. More pics later as work progresses.

The mailman didn't deliver this one. I actually got in the car last week, drove to the store, and bought it. How old school, right? It's a GEC #87 English Jack, marked "S" for store or second. Looks nearly perfect to me. ::nod::

You either Like them or Hate them, Riggers knife... I picked up these two this week 2004 Case XX 62146 with locking spike (believe to be made by Camillus) and a mid 70s Case XX 6246 made by case in non locking spike with a bail.
