My Ho-Made Knife Display Case

Post by Tom99 »

Just finished up this project. I got tired of digging through cigar boxes to look at my knives, so I made this display to mount on the wall. It's cherry wood. Clear finish. No stain. I like cherry; it should darken with age.

That is some excellent craftsmanship there in that cabinet . Really like the cherry with no finish. ::tu:: ::tu::

Wow, that turned out great. Cherry is one of my favorites for woodturning.

I like how you can adjust the height of each shelf to accommodate different size knives. Brilliant! ::idea::

Very nice carpentry! If fact, the only problem that I can see with that case is ( drum roll ) that it appears to be completely full and you'll have to get busy and make another one. ::tu:: ::tu::

Thanks for all the compliments, guys. I thought about making another one. There's another wall spot on the other side of the window. I have a few more knives that didn't fit in this one. But then I came to my senses. It's a lot of work! And just having the one display might keep my collection to a manageable size.

I think you built a fine prototype for a whole-wall made up of multiple modules. I could imagine 30” of wainscoting and then 2-3 modules high for the width of the wall - that would hold a lot of knives all easily accessible- what a concept!

Great idea, Tom. I'll get right on it. Should be done in a day or two. Send me a couple hundred knives so it doesn't look too empty.

Excellent design and completion, headed out to the workshop right now to see if I have enough walnut to do one to house my dad's collection.
