Some American jigged bone
I just got this one today, wondering where to begin researching it because i can't quite make out the stamp, and here it is! Well not exactly, but very close. Yours says campers and looks great. Mine says scout and was rode hard and put away seeking workman's comp.
Can you tell me anything about mine?

Looks like a Globe Cutlery Co. stamp, Knife Guy. According to Blade's Guide to Knives, some were made by Robeson, some by Gilco. They were made in the USA and Germany circa 1900's to 1920's.. Hope this helps. cool old knife, BTW..

It does, my friend. My eyes are actually still functioning great, but for some reason all my brain wanted to read was globe trotter new york. I was like, there's no way!
Never even heard of gilco.
Not sure what to do with mine. Only stamped on the main which is the one thing that needs replaced. I imagine ill put it in a drawer and think about it for months.

I think the actual tang stamp says Globe Cut Co. It's a good lookin old knife. Just guessing, but Gilco was probably a German importer or something like that. I have a few knives that need new blades, but the handles are still nice. I just close them up and leave them like they are to tell their story. I do have a couple that had broken blades that I had blades welded on. I put notes with them stating they had been welded, so that way they don't get sold as original after I'm gone..

That's a fantastic knife, WLF! I thought I had read before that Dreer knives were made by J.A. Henckles in Germany. I have seen Dreer blades with "Germany" marked on the other blades. I also found this. You may want to search the Henckles connection. Ahh, Henry A. Dreer had a famous seed company. He was born in Philly, but his family was from Germany. It looks like Henckles made knives for his seed company. Many of his knives were horticulture type knives. I also found a small Dreer knife with an advertisement for his seed company on it.

Thanks fellows, especially for those links. These large horticultural firms varied manufacturers over the years , so you need to keep all possibilities open .
Here's a Walden Knife Company Dreer knife , It's not a mystery as it's marked both H A Dreer and Walden knife Co.
I have 3 Michells Seed knives made by Wostenholm and another made in Germany by ?.
Here's another Dreer ( not mine, from Worthpoint) that looks like the T Hessenbruch (bottom) I have from Germany. All are similar to the German Michell and are from Germany, but don't resemble any of my 7 or 8 Henckels farmers jacks. Mysteries.

Real bargain Tom, I think if you try editing the photo ( you can even reorient it and return it back to the same position ) on you camera , hey J.O. , before posting it stays in the right orientation. I don't know if that works on all phones or not, worth a try.
