Anyone ever see one of these before?
It's simply known as the SRT, my wife got it for me back in the late 70's. You can take a stick and push it into the hole then use the paracord to lash it to the stick. That little brass dealy-bob is a glass cutter.

Did you modify the edge to add the serrations, or did it come like that?

The tool came with the serrations and yes that's a glass cutter.I've actually used this while camping, and it does a fair to middlein' job of chopping wood. Sharpening it is not easy. This came out well before the survival gear craze really began and quite franklyI'm surprised no one has come out with something siiliar. I'd like to see it made in high carbon steel so it would sharpen easier.

Tops does have something similar, called an Atax.

The holes, and putting it on a stick reminds me of a mortar hoe.
A lot more useful though.
