Brought to you by our friends at BladeHQ. I had no idea it was saltwater safe. Hope no one is looking for a knife to cut car batteries in the Dead Sea. Interesting analogy.

So the tester used some clever tricks to make it score high in all categories????? And the reason we should buy one is because they are super cool???? And they are more expensive?????
I think Ill pass.

Re: What's This About This Here Magnacut Steel???
I appreciate that Magnacut was brought to the market but corrosion resistance is more important to me personally than toughness. I simply don’t need the combined properties that Magnacut has.
10.5% Chromium doesn’t seem like enough for me. I prefer something more in the range of 14% - 20%.
On the other hand, I would like to try it in the distant future just to see how I like it. I’ve seen a few knives with Magnacut that are very reasonably priced.

Re: What's This About This Here Magnacut Steel???
I have nothing for or against Magnacut steel. It’s probably a good steel. But all steels have their limitations. Steel can be manipulated to increase any property - toughness, wearability, strength, corrosion resistance, and so on. For every “increase” in any of those properties, there is an offsetting decrease in another one. Steel can be made better in any one or more properties, but only to the detriment of other properties. That is just how it is. Makers of steel want to sell their product. Whatever positive attributes it has, they are going to hype that. And they’re not going to expound on its weaknesses.
Everyone who reads hype about any steel should read, and learn this https://www.jayfisher.com/Testing_Knife ... _the_truth

It's good for the industry when R&D brings new optimized steels to the market. It can help moderate prices on formerly "the best knife steel ever".
I have a Buck limited edition with Magna Cut, but I have not yet used it much so I can't say if I like it or not. That said, I have been very happy with Buck's 420HC andvthe S30V, with a slight nod to tr 420 for cost and ease of maintenance.
