JTX do you like the feel of the aluminum scales?
I like the feel of the original Bugout scales but they are thin
garddog, The AWT aluminum scales change a nice knife into a great knife for me. They add less than 1 oz. to the weight of the knife. The real difference is the "feel" of the scales... more substantial than the original scales. They are easier on my hands the plastic scales. I have a few Bugouts and Mini Bugouts and I have changed all of them to the AWT scales. (I am not affiliated with AWT, I just like their products.)

My love with Benchmade started in 1998 when the appendices on the job showed me the importance of a off hand knife in the trades when they got me a Stryker because when climbing with safety gear and a tool pouch on and I can’t reach my sheathed trusty Buck .112. With my right hand I can pull my clipped knife with my left handThe picture show my evolution with modern knives, now remember I will always have a slip joint in my pocket,a sheathed lb on my belt usually a Buck.

Nice looking group, they are beauties, the brand is growing on me. This Proper is a great knife and blade profile. Seen here with a GEC 13.

Hi Jtx - as you've done a few scale changes ... are there any secrets you learned about disassembling the bugout to change the scales ? I ordered lime green G10 scales and am a bit apprehensive about removing the center blade pin as there are spacerwashers and likely other "stuff" in there I'm not sure how to get back together ... was it a PIA or not too bad to reassemble the knife with the new scales ? Also, do you happen to know what are the sizes of the 2 star driver bits it requires - the screws are so tiny ... thanks !!

Lansky1, I watched videos on uTube showing the process. AWT has some on uTube. The videos will tell you everything you need to know. I will admit that the first one was intimidating. I am confident that you can do it. If you end up with a pile of parts and can not get them back together, then perhaps you can send everything to me and I will be happy to reassemble it for you. You will need a Torx T6 driver for the scale screws and a Torx T10 for the pivot screw. Go slow and have fun.
