Hibbard Spencer Bartlett

Hello, I was curious about a Hibbard Spencer Bartlett knife that I found recently. Opposite side of tang is stamped 9813, but I couldn’t find any info about that particular number. What I’m more curious about is the ridged brass lining between the blade springs – this is the first one I’ve seen with that feature. Just wondering if anyone could help me with any info about the 9813, ridges, or any other hints to identify the age. Thanks!!

Hi; that is a contract knife made by Camillus Cutlery, circa 1940's to 50's - same pattern as a Camillus #69.

The liners have what are called "milled" or gimped" lower edges...just a fancy decoration really.

That is a beautiful HSB stockman! Small touches like the gimped liners are hallmarks of a really well-made knife.
