Colonial Electrican Knife with great quality!

Post by J529A »

I obtained this Colonial 3-Blade Electrician's Knife on eBay. It's common knowledge that Colonial knives are mostly an economy line and not of the best quality. The majority of Colonial knives I've handle over the years are shell handle construction. That's why I was blow away by the quality of the Electrican knife. The blades have loud snap, tight lockup, and rock solid deployment. The construction is excellent! Does anyone know when Colonial made knives of such quality? Did they only do this for the Electrican models? I'm just very curious and this is not typical for Colonial

Colonial may be well known for inexpensive shell handle knives but they also made some with more “conventional” solid bolsters and scales (aka liners) with attached covers. See this thread in the Colonial Collector’s subforum for more info about your knife (scroll down a couple of posts below the picture - the info there is from third generation family owner of Colonial, Bobby Paolantonio. viewtopic.php?p=372377#p372377

Colonial did make some good knives. I have some cheap ones, but I have a few that are excellent quality. And while they are under different ownership now, they still produce knives today!
