Howdy from Illinois

Good morning AAPK,

Bart from Central Illinois. I'm a riverboat captain by trade, and a knife junkie, by habit...lol. I enjoy collecting and trying different knives. Recently I've begun finding older "diamonds in the rough" and cleaning them up, regrinding broken points, etc. Just for my own amusement and something to focus my energy upon. I'm on bladeforums and BCUSA, for many years. Guessing there might be a familiar face or 2 here ..lol. Looking forward to learning from everyone. Thanks for having me here. Standing by....

Welcome aboard. As a child I wanted to be a riverboat Captain on the Mississippi. Well, Mark Twain was responsible. I look forward to your posts and I hope you will post some photos of your acquisitions.

I bet you and Steamboat Willie would have a few things to chat about (other than knives, that is). Haven't seen him around for awhile but people pop in and out all the time. Hope you stick around and show us some pics of your "habit". :)

Appreciate the welcome. My present collection are various flea market finds, and cleaning them up, or regrinding broken points. Found this site, while researching a case trapper. Figured I'd join up and see what's what. :). Standing by...

Also...please forgive me for getting accustomed to everything. My other 2 favorite places use the same forum template, and I can get around easily. I'll get the hang shortly. Thanks for your patience.

Ok, let me just warn you one little thing about joining here. I joined about a month ago and was a flea market buyer too. Now I have had delivery on a new in the box 2024 Remington Bullet and have in route a 2023 & a 2022 Bullet. I also bought an old Wenger display case with four new knives. I'm just warning, these guys have a way to getting into your head.

Welcome from far Northern Illinois. I've lived in Southern Illinois (White County, Gallatin County), Central Illinois (Champaign County and Macon County) and for the past 60 years, Northern Illinois (Winnebago County). Illinois has changed over the past 80 years (and not for the better). The farther from Chicago or Springfield the better off you are.

Sadly, I'm getting hooked....lol. I prefer cleaning and regrinding. I'm not mechanical enough to replace pins and blades, etc. (honestly, I can barely fix a sandwich..lol)
