knife buy
Was traveling this past week and ended up with these from a guy. They were his dads and neither is/was a collector, he said his dad just had these and this fella wasn't interested in them.
In the first picture:
Top one is an Imperial and missing the tips on one side.
Middle one is a Colonial, and the main blade has been abused pretty badly.
Bottom one is a Craftsman and pretty much intact.

Re: knife buy
Nice functional knives.
The bail on that Craftsman is different than anything I have seen before. Can you tell if that was added after the knife was made? I think perhaps someone removed the original bail and added that particular one. It looks like it would be quite functional if clipped inside the pocket of a pair of jeans. I can see that it would be much easier to access your knife if the clip was hanging on the edge of your pocket.

Re: knife buy
That style of bail - the belt clip bail - is actually somewhat common on CRAFTSMAN scout knives. Appears that Ulster madethem, but I have only seen them on the ones made for Sears.orvet wrote: ↑Tue Jan 02, 2024 5:22 pm Nice functional knives.![]()

It does appear to be factory and I figured it to clip to a belt. The blade also says Craftsman on it.

I like them all, and drawn to the Craftsman. Vintage knives that you can use.

Lots of info here about the unusual bail on that Craftsman. I have one like it, somewhere here there’s a picture of it. Here’s a link to a copy of the patent on the design, that was awarded to Henry Baer. viewtopic.php?p=124396#p124396
As Eric said, it was also used on at least one Ulster pattern.
