Newest Case Pick-Ups

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

I picked up quite a few knives at an estate sale a couple weeks ago, and these two have turned out to be two of my favorites.

They are both marked 087PE. The yellow one is from 1040-64 I think, and the brown delrin one is from 1978. Both had quite a bit of tarnish, but they cleaned up okay and sharpened nicely.

These were the two cheapest knives I bought ($4.50 and $8.00) but I really like them. The size is nice for pocket carry, and they are both put together really well.

Welcome Tom! Anytime you can get a Case knife for under $10.00 you've done well! Especially any XX! Great finds! ::handshake::

Thanks, guys.

Here are three more little ones from the same estate sale.
A 6269 congress, a 92042 imitation pearl, and a 6233 small pen knife.
They were a bit easier to clean up. Not as much tarnish on these.

Thanks Kerry! I don't have many Case fixed blades in my hoard, but I do love the big Stag handles on the few Kodiaks and Bowies I have.

Here’s what my lovely wife got me, this Case/Bose cattle knife. I probably wouldn’t have picked abalone covers but now that I have it, I’m glad she chose it. The knife is a stunner, nearly perfect cosmetically, with great walk-and-talk. Abalone is a lot like pearl - difficult to take a picture representative of its real beauty.

Sharpnshinyknives wrote: Tue Dec 26, 2023 1:05 am Ordered this one the same day my Shepherd Hills Cutlery catalog arrived last month, I guess they hadn’t been made yet. It just arrived on Saturday. It’s a Barlow and it’s got red Barnboard jigged bone, what other reasons do you need? It will go well with the purple Barnboard jigged bone Barlow I bought a couple of months ago.
Outstanding additions gentelmen! ::ds:: ::tu:: ::super_happy::

I snuck one more in before the end of the year...I had a large Texas Jack, new old stock, but it was just too big for carry in my work pants, so this Summer, it went to the knife giveaway here. This is a standard Texas Jack and it is just the right size. The seller had a "Make Offer" option so I did and bought this New Years Eve.

From the auction pictures I could tell the cigar had been cleaned and profiled but thought for sure it was a LP XX, maybe in red bone. Well, turns out to be some pretty sweet green bone. It does have a hairline pin crack on the left mark side handle but I really love this knife. ::ds::

I'm interested in purchasing a Case Barlow in the store listed by Spring Hill Cutlery but site says name not found? I originally sent a pm through the store but no response. Anyone know if he is still around?
