Buck 110 for my nephew's son

I got a Buck 110 USA for my nephew's son for Christmas...he is almost 13. He loved it! He helped everyone with their package opening and found other stuff that "Had to be cut" like tags, packaging, a branch on the Christmas tree...He loved his new knife!

I always have a knife on hand for Christmas present opening. I had my Western Barlow...it however stayed in my pocket...It was a good day!

That is so great. I have gifted quite a few but they've gone up in price so much lately. Maybe next year gift a sharpening block to help him learn to keep it sharp.

Wonderful gift and with some care it will last him a lifetime. I will say one important thing to do is teach him how to properly sharpen it. A whole lot of adult knife owners can’t do it and it is a skill worth having.

One thing I did wit the Troop was to cut a “knife blank” out of a paint stick and glue some sand paper to a wood block for a “stone”. This allowed them to get the feel for it and I used a marker to mark the edge to see if they were staying even on both sides. Good luck on it either way you go.

I'm getting better, but I think I need to build one of these rigs and use it for practice. Better than messing up even those cheap knives I really don't care about.
