Anyone have "Short-Line Fever"? It's better than Covid-19

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

John , very nice 64 . ::tu:: ::tu:: agree with you that they’re hard to find . Still looking for one .
Was at the cabin fishing a few weeks back and grabbed an old tackle box to look for some musky lures . Found this old #5 fishing knife in an old tackle box. Not much left of it and none of us even remember the old man or Gramps having this one . Being shut up in that small space guess the Celluloid gassed out destroyed the knife . The other half was a pile of crude and corrosion.
The #5 that I’ve had stored in the open air for years hasn’t gassed out yet ! So be careful when you stash your old short lines with celluloid covers as they will damage your other knives .

This afternoon, my visit to the post office produced this pocket knife. It now becomes my latest example to be posted under this topic or thread. It also becomes the latest example to be added to my collection. It is a CAMILLUS 72, FIRST GENERATION, three blades, two tang stamps, 3 5/8" closed, swelled center, a long matchstrike and blade pull, two springs, "whittler" pattern or style of pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp (short line) says, "CAMILLUS (over) NEW YORK (over) USA" The main blade back tang stamp says "72", the pattern number. The main blade has a weak half stop, but has a good opening and closing snap. The secondary blade has a weak half stop, but has a good opening and closing snap. The third blade has a good half stop, along with a very good opening and closing snap. This pocket knife is in EXCELLENT condition. I did NOT clean it at all. I just wiped it off. I took some pictures and here it is.

This #18 couldn't be saved....😥😥😪 ... it was covered in rust and I soaked it a vinegar bath, but all the rust fell off and left almost nothing of the original blade .... :x

A couple of days ago, my visit to the post office produced this BEAUTY of a pocket knife. It is my latest example to be posted under this topic or thread. It is also the latest example to be added to my general, CAMILLUS, pocket knife accumulation. It is a CAMILLUS "60", three blades (one has a file), 3 1/8" closed, two tang stamps, milled liners, fancy springs, tip bolsters, "split spring", "whittler", pattern or style of pocket knife. YES, I KNOW IT IS NOT A TRUE SPLIT SPRING! The main blade front tang stamp (short line) says, "CAMILLUS (over) NEW YORK (over) USA" The main blade back tang stamp says, "60" The main blade has a SOFT half stop, but it does have a GOOD opening snap and a GOOD closing snap. The secondary blade has a SOFT half stop, a GOOD opening snap and a GOOD closing snap. The third blade (with a file) also has a SOFT half stop, a GOOD opening snap and a GOOD closing snap. Overall, this pocket knife is in EXCELLENT condition. It did NOT require any cleaning at all. I just wiped it off. I took some pictures and here it is.
Caption(s), if any, are on the BOTTOM of the corresponding picture(s).

***** NOTE ***** NOTE ***** NOTE ***** NOTE *****
Back on Monday, November 21, 2022, I posted a CAMILLUS "60" whittler pocket knife under this topic or
thread. I erroneously stated the length as being 3 5/16" closed. It is ACTUALLY 3 1/8" in length, closed.

ALSO.....According to the 1946 CAMILLUS catalog, the CAMILLUS "60" is called a "DE LUXE SENATOR PEN KNIFE."
With some MINOR additional research, it appears that the "60", at some point, became the more familiar
"stockman" pattern, was called "Old Smoothie " and again at some point, evolved into the "61" I could NOT
find a "60" listed after 1978. The pattern number, NOT the pocket knife itself. There is ROOM FOR ERROR
in my findings, so.....

I love the #23 pattern.... and I love the Short-Line😍 .... ::paranoid:: so, I have added one more to the ever growing "Pile" ..... ::facepalm::

I will try and clean up the blades, maybe even out the "patina" .... ::tounge:: Great snap/walk n' talk :D ... blades lock super tight so that is the most important part. This will make a GREAT EDC ::ds::
