China made clones at AAPK?!?!

Post by Slavetrader »

I hope I'm not the only guy disgusted by the number of chinese clone knives all of a sudden getting peddled here! I'm sure everybody is aware of what has become of GunBroker.com because of some real tycoons finding out about DHGate and Ali Express and other drop shipping outfits selling knock offs and crap for $10-$50. Turning around and selling these knives for double and triple! A couple weeks ago right here some suckkker paid $75 for a terrible Walther SOK2 clone. It was labeled or sold as an AKC Bill DeShivs Leverletto! But it was a push button knife! Ridiculous! It's $21 dollars at DHGate or $30 on Ebay.
This if it is allowed to continue will destroy the integrity and reputation of AAPK.

You should state what stores are selling these so no one else gets taken.

Thanks fellas for being receptive to this subversion. I understand your advice to drop the names of the sellers involved in this unsavory endeavor. The night before I started this topic I sent a private message to one of the guys and said pretty much the same as in my first entry as well as suggesting that to be doing as they are puts them in poor company.
I also sent a message to an AAPK staff/moderator queuing them in on the deal. But if you notice a Microtech Bounty Hunter brand new with a key for opening the knife at a price of $50 you will know something ain't cool. 🤙🏻
Take it easy...

P.S. There's a K108 of each a Super Automatic and NATO both for $85 at GB. Any novice should be all over that. There's also 3 MOD blades, new unused condition at penny auction with no reserve....

I read with interest this post. I am grateful that this forum handles counterfeits
with grace and informs us what to stay away avoid . These counterfeit knives
ruin the knife collection hobby.

You must be extra cautious guys, cuz some low-life sellers are now listing full price instead of the usual vastly reduced price. The low price use to be your first clue something wasn't right, but so many buyers have now caught on to this deception and are not making purchases that sellers had to figure out a new scam, and that is to charge full price thus giving the impression the knives are the real-deal, cuz after-all, who would attach a high price to a counterfeit?!

They're gambling that the buyer doesn't really know much about the knife they want and won't ask questions, and those that do will get answers like, "Oh really, I didn't know that" or no reply at all, all the while the listing will remain as-is. They don't expect to make a career of doing this, so if they can unload a few hundred dollars worth of cheap knives for big money they'll be satisfied and move on to their next scam once the heat from buyers becomes too hot.

There's one born every minute, make sure you're not that one!

There is really no good reason not to tell the rest of the members the names of dishonest sellers.

Here are some pics of a counterfeit Hubertus lever lock. I found it at a large antique co-op several years ago, paid 60 bucks and was delighted with myself for finding such a deal for a switchblade. I think the dhgate company was involved in this fraud. The plastic stag looking handles and the somewhat crude file work should have tipped me off.
This knife does fire off and lockup very well.

I’ve learned my lesson by reading many posts here on AAPK. Hope this helps other members to not get burned ::dang::

Here's what I don't understand:

I was under the impression that before a potential candidate could open a store here, he had to be vetted, so to speak, by another member in good standing. So what does this say about the person doing the vetting? That person raised their hand for this guy.

Now I understand that you can't know everything about someone, and mistakes do happen from time to time, and the overwhelming majority of sellers here are honest. But now that this has come to light, I wonder if there is a better process to be made for letting someone open a store here?

Or should there be a steadfast consequence for trying to sell counterfeit items here?

Any thoughts?

As someone still very early into the collecting addiction it's something that concerns me. I may see a nice knife but more than once I've questioned whether it was legitimate and not really know how to vet it further. To date I've avoided buying second hand knives for that reason.

Could you help quantify this? How frequently are you encountering counterfeit or unauthorized products on AAPK?

In the past, we have actively removed listings of such items and permanently banned the accounts of sellers responsible for these listings. This is a practice we are committed to continuing.

If necessary, we are prepared to implement even more stringent measures to address and resolve any ongoing issues related to counterfeit listings.

I believe you have helped us identify some fakes in the past through email that we were able to remove. We very much appreciate you informing us of them. If you've attempted to reach out recently and haven't received a response, please contact us again.

If you can, could you give me the item number or any details of the fake Bill DeShivs sold knife you mentioned? I haven't been able to find it.

I encourage anyone who sees a counterfeit or clones from China that is not authorized by the manufacturer for sale here to please contact me or post it on the forum.

Any assistance on this is much appreciated.

Best,
Bryan

And, it has a SCREW in the front metal strip, legitimate lever-locks use a FIXED rivet.
BTW, does anyone know if there is an official name for the metal strip I mention? Thx!

That's partly why I'm not buying.,obvious knock offs and no response from the ones that I do try to buy. If you're going to run a store at least respond. Frustrating.,Christmas will be here and gone. sorry, please pardon my rant.

Again, it's probably me and my illogical approach to logic.
But why isn't any of this in the "Counterfeit Watch" forum
or the "Chinese-made knives" forum? Really, General Knife

Hey Skip,
Why did you add "Yeah right. Say Wow, Dave." to the end of your post AFTER I had already said Wow?
Just curious.

If you have a problem with me I would just ask you to pm me and I will give you my phone number.
Then we can talk man to man if you are able. Don't send me to the principal because I love AAPK!

To me, your "Wow" comment was a continuation of your other post where you told an AAPK member that I had Obsessive

I do NOT have a problem with you. You seem to have a problem with me. I'm perfectly willing to call a truce before this gets out of hand. I too love AAPK and just want things to run smoothly. Ok? ::handshake::
