Sister-in-law Jackie

There are times in each of our lives that rain falls, hard times come and it helps to reach out to our friends and to our God for a little support. This is the place to express those needs, concerns and situations so others in the AAPK family can keep you in their prayers.

Sister-in-law Jackie

Post by djknife13 »

My brother called yesterday to fill me in on his wife Jackie. About two months ago her kidneys started failing and she has been doctoring for that and has been in and out of the hospital many times in the two months. Every time they think they have things going in the right direction, something new seems to show up. She hurt her back working in a nursing home years ago and suffers with back pain all the time, and the pain meds she depends on to get by daily would mess with the meds the Dr's are using to try to get her kidneys functioning again, and all this is messing with her heart. She has had 48 different medical appointments in the past 2 months and is in daily contact with the medical staff working with her. She fell a couple days ago and hit her head and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. There was no brain bleed thankfully and sent back home. She has an 8 or 9 out of 10 pain level with and the Dr's are struggling to figure out what to do to get her kidneys working and not messing up other things and to try to get her pain level down. Your prayers would be very much appreciated. Thanks.____ Dave

I talked to my brother a couple days ago, and Jackie is still in what he called a number 8 pain and the Dr.s are still working to get that down with little success, but the other problems seem to have settled down some but are still present and threatening with kidney and heart issues and she is far from being out of the water with these. Any little progress is promising but it is still little, and she is still needing prayer. It's more a matter of getting her in a more healthy and stable condition from the doctor's perspective. I don't think they are expecting anything close to full healing. Jackie turned 70 last summer. Her husband Lyn is my youngest brother. Thanks for your ongoing prayers.____Dave

Not much new to report on Jackie. She is now considered homebound, and nurses go out to their house daily and do whatever they need to and see if she needs to be taken in for any treatments. She is still monitored from home to the local hospital and had to go in if it appeared she needed care, but they don't want her traveling any more than necessary. They live a little over an hour away from us and I'm going up there to check on some bathroom remodeling next week and will know more. My brother isn't a wealth of information even when he does call. ____Dave

Father, I pray that you would ease Jackie's pain and her dependence on pain medication. I asked that you would bring healing to her kidneys.
I asked this in the powerful name of Jesus,
Amen.

Just back from visiting Jackie. She is still homebound and full time on oxygen but seems better and in much better spirits. After we left, she put on compression things on her legs and took a nap. I could see we were wearing her out visiting so we didn't stay long. Thanks for continued prayers.____Dave
