The tang on this Congress reads John Primble Belnap. I have little familiarity with this brand. The Knife Center informs me that it was the oldest knife manufacturer in continuous operation. [145 years] It went out of business in 1985, tho the Primble name continues under newer ownership. This knife contains two sheep foot blades and two pen blades. Half stops on all blades. Appears well made; not outstanding but a good solid knife.

If anyone can tell me more about the brand or the knife I would appreciate it.

Belknap Hardware of Louisville sold Primble knives. The company was one of the major players in the hardware business, Wikipedia has a good synopsis if you wish to read. The Primble knives today are sold by Bluegrass Cutlery. I have no knowledge or experience with the reincarnated brand. The original knives were of very good quality, and there were a few different tang stamps for various periods. The "John Primble Belknap" stamp was used for the latter years of the business, 1968-1985 according to Goins. You have a nice looking knife there, Garry.
I had an Uncle who carried Primble knives.

QS, Belknap was a hardware store in Louisville, KY. in 1840. The Primble name was a name they chose for their house brand.
Different makers made knives for them over time, including Utica/Kutmaster. They have some very nice knives. Oops, you beat me to it, Ike!

Beautiful scales, love the groovy texture and the color of that blonde bone and the darker grooves. Beautiful knife, Queen was making some pretty cool knives at that time.
