Case Shield Question

Hello,

I am new to knife collecting and have a question about the shield on a couple of knives I have. My husband and I own several Case knives but I collect the John Deere Case Knives. I have a John Deere Case (6254) Trapper that has the case shield and the John Deere Shield on the front. This knife has the green handle and is in a collector tin with a John Deere Medallion. I also have a John Deere Case (6254) Trapper that only has the John Deere Shield on the front. This knife has a yellow handle and is in a collector tin with a Black Leather Sheath. Why does one have the Case Shield and the other dosen't?

Welcome pbates!

Others may have differing opinions......but I'm gonna say the reason is to sell more knives!! Case really caters to the collectors, IMO, and if they offer multiple versions, a collector is going to want them all.

I wish I had a John Deere to ride on and mow my yard today.....
