eBay No Go Dealers

Post by CarMan »

I see a list of eBay dealers that are on here. But is there a list of dealers people here avoid? I recently bought a knife on a BIN price. A day or so after I paid the seller cancelled the sale, waited about 2 days and re-listed it for $50 more. I feel we should have a list to that people can loop up unethical dealers. Worst thing is is that this seller has a 100% positive rating-only because I can’t put in a review since I didn’t receive the knife. The seller I’m referring to goes by billg128.

I guess you could start it by telling who the seller is. ::shrug::

There are tons of posts here on AAPK about counterfeiters selling on eBay and sellers with bad business ethics. ::mdm::

You should be able to leave feedback - the sale was completed and you paid - go to your Purchase History page, look under orders-cancelled. The order will be there and you will be able to leave feedback.

PLEASE try it and leave the seller negative feedback. Sellers have to learn that this is unethical.

It won’t let me. I only have the option to see order details. When I talked to an eBay representative & filled a complaint against the seller they said I can’t leave feedback because I never received the item. They did say this would cost him his 100% positive rating and possibly get him banned from eBay. But that was 4 or 5 days ago and nothing has happened so far. Thank you for the input though.

I left negative feedback on a knife that was paid for but not shipped because the seller's "business partner actually sold the knife previous to my purchase" and didn't tell the seller. This was a "Best Offer" sale, I still think someone submitted a better offer after the seller and I agreed on a price and I paid. :x

That seems odd. I had a situation where I sold a knife and the buyer asked to cancel prior to paying...so really no actual sale, no payment, yet the buyer was able to leave feedback.

Thank you very much for this. Even the eBay representative I spoke to on the phone said I couldn’t leave feedback, but thanks to you I just did (if it goes through). This did appear to work.

Everyone, the above comment does give a way to leave feedback even when it doesn’t look like you can.

The problem I’ve had with leaving negative feedback is it doesn’t stick. In nearly 15 years on eBay, with about 300 transactions I’ve left negative feedback only twice. Both times for items not as described. In both cases within a few weeks the negative feedback disappeared. I can only assume the sellers were somehow able to have eBay delete it. ::shrug::

Ken, I think you are 100% correct. In all the years I've been using ebay I've had only two, maybe three occasions to issue negative feedback and two or three occasions when I received negative feedback. Each of the times that I received negative feedback it was for a really stupid, ridiculous reason, and I made a quick phone call to ebay and POOF, they deleted it. Each of the times that I issued negative feedback, I went back a few weeks later and checked to see if that person still had the negative feedback I had issued, and it was already gone. ::hmm::

Just passing on the facts. Here’s the question I posed to knives57 on EBay:

No cracks? No chips? How is the blade snap - very good? Smooth opening and closing with good pop to the snap? I’ve had a couple of Remingtons that felt like there may have been sand or grit between the blade and spring - or maybe the metal was just rough.
Thanks!

Here’s the response I got:

Wow Tim, that is just about as unhelpful as anyone can get. I don’t understand what the seller expects from his customers? What an attitude.

I don’t mind what he says. I have the unanswered correspondence & proof that he relisted the same knife, but it was more expensive. No problem. I try to make sure I cover my butt & give the other party a chance before I cry wolf. I looked at my review of him, but I can’t see a reply of any kind. I’d like to know how you found it. He did try to get me to remove it. Ebay representative was looking into it and said that they see what he did and they don’t stand for that kind of business, ya right.

I sell knives out of my AAPK storefront and issues happen, but as a seller you have to be honest and make it right. Looks as if he was dishonest and only out for himself.

I've been registered on eBay since 1999 but my transactions of any kind have dwindled to maybe a few each year for a variety of reasons but mainly as a buyer the knives I'm looking for are rarely listed and as a seller the benefit from reaching the masses are outweighed by bad buyers. When I have knives to sell, AAPK is the only platform that I would consider to maintain a reasonable sense of sanity. ::tu:: YMMV

I don't know about all of this. I got neutral feedback for a poor reason and had to wear the scarlet letter for an entire year. I also noticed a while back that AAPK member Triple F had some negative comments and I'll bet they were all undeserved. Look at this seller's feedback. It looks as if he's wearing the crown.9 negatives in a year is very severe.

Bob, I suspect that ebay is just looking at the 98.6% positive feedback rate that person has for the past year.

In this thread reasons are given for eBay removing bad feedback. It is on a case-by-case basis, and I suspect the more $ you are earning for Ebay the closer they would look at things.

Top-rated sellers that offer unconditional returns can get some feedback removed if the buyer is refunded.

The fact that some sellers can get some feedback removed does not mean that all sellers can get any feedback removed; there are plenty of sellers that have bad feedback ratings that are unable to get those removed.

Here is another no go dealer “apes2647” They have listed several knives lately with long BS stories to go along with them. They talk as if they are knife experts and good friends with people that designed the knives. This “doctor” is also claiming that he has cancer and that’s why he is selling. I had a bad experience with this character about 3 or 4 years ago. They sold me a counterfeit Paragon gravity knife and then tried to get out of the refund by claiming that he didn’t say it was an “authentic” knife so they shouldn’t have to give a refund. He lost that one, eBay took my side and I got the refund.
Twoflowersluggage did some research on this doctor and found a lot of claims of insurance fraud, Medicaid fraud and just generally bad practices.
At the time I was ripped off, this seller was claiming that people were giving him knives to sell to pay for people without insurance when they get sick. He was such a Good Samaritan that he wasn’t responsible for his lack of knowledge about what is real or a cheap counterfeit from Ali Express. Just avoid this seller no matter what he offers.
