Newest Case Pick-Ups

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

The Purple bone is great! I will pick it up a Barlow eventually, I am starting out with these... the bad news is I love Purple! ::dang:: .... ::facepalm:: ... This is going to end up costing me more money! 💸💸💸💰 ::doh:: ::facepalm::

Yep TopDog it just keeps coming and coming. There is always something else to collect. I turned right around and ordered the same Barnboard jigged bone in red that Shepherd Hills Cutlery offers. It’s not in yet but can’t wait to get it. Those two look really nice. I’ve always admired the Barnboard jigged bone that Case offers.

Was going through my knife drawer and found a couple of Cases. The first is my dad's old EDC case. Both blades worn but super sharp. Looks like delrin handles. I totally forgot I had it. He's been gone over 20 years now. It was nice finding it.

The second is a larger Case 2 blade pattern 6207. I honestly don't remember getting this one. Almost prestine, looks carried but never sharpened. Any idea the value or age?

Your mini trapper (6207) was made between 1990-93 when Case was putting the date instead of dots on the tang stamp. You should be able to see the year stamped below Bradford PA. Looks like 1993 in the picture but can't tell for sure (19USA93). My guess is that it is probably worth around $40.

You can find the Case dating information in the Research section at the top left corner of this site and the best place to get a value is checking the sold listings on eBay for knives similar to yours.

I ordered a Case Purple Bone stockman... It looked great, :D great bones .... then when inspecting the blades... ::uc:: the sheep's hoof blade is bent/off set too much and set too far over and won't close w/o pushing on it to the side and the main blade won't close as well w/o pushing the sheep's hoof blade over out of the way to the side. The main blade is rubbed by the sheep's hoof blade :x So I will be looking at making a return... a brand-new knife should not have been shipped from the factory like this! ::td::

TopDog, that is a shame. I have seen a lot of blades “crimped” to fit on multi-bladed knives and sometimes it really stands out like on this one. Not sure Case will agree that it’s a defect, so I will be watching to see the results on your return. Good luck.

I recently picked up this Case XX 6265SAB folding hunter with belt sheath. Needs some cleaning up and some oil was applied to the sheath because of dry stiffness. The problem area is on the pile side where there is a sizeable piece of bone missing, I am now debating now how to fix this as an AcraGlas patch would be very large. Either rehandle the whole thing or try to find a closely matching bone slab are also options. Would like to keep it as original as possible. Is this what is referred to as strawberry bone?

Cool find, OC. Hope you can find a Mark side bone replacement for this beauty.

I think Strawberry Bone was on Robesons. ::shrug::

It's a great pattern but I'll have to admit that I like the size of the Mini Copperlock a tick better. At least I have one of both sizes in my collection now so that's nice. I also prefer the Mini Trapper over the regular size Trapper but that's just me. I'm sure some folks have their size preferences the other way around. :D

Ordered this one the same day my Shepherd Hills Cutlery catalog arrived last month, I guess they hadn’t been made yet. It just arrived on Saturday. It’s a Barlow and it’s got red Barnboard jigged bone, what other reasons do you need? It will go well with the purple Barnboard jigged bone Barlow I bought a couple of months ago.

Very nice Christmas present from your wife! Over the years I’ve come to learn being a knife collector makes it easy on the gift buyer.

Here’s what my lovely wife got me, this Case/Bose cattle knife. I probably wouldn’t have picked abalone covers but now that I have it, I’m glad she chose it. The knife is a stunner, nearly perfect cosmetically, with great walk-and-talk. Abalone is a lot like pearl - difficult to take a picture representative of its real beauty.

Ken that TB cattle knife is drop dead gorgeous. Now I am wishing I had asked for that for Christmas. I love abalone handles. I like that these have a shield on them, don’t see that a lot with abalone, it looks great.

New member here with a couple Cases to share.

I picked up quite a few knives at an estate sale a couple weeks ago, and these two have turned out to be two of my favorites.

They are both marked 087PE. The yellow one is from 1040-64 I think, and the brown delrin one is from 1978. Both had quite a bit of tarnish, but they cleaned up okay and sharpened nicely.

These were the two cheapest knives I bought ($4.50 and $8.00) but I really like them. The size is nice for pocket carry, and they are both put together really well.

Nice finds! At those prices you did well. Looks like the first one is a 32087, or maybe a 42087. Hard to tell from pictures whether that’s yellow synthetic that’s faded with age, or white synthetic that’s yellowed with age!

The other is a Delrin handled 63087.

You can find more about them, and other Case info by clicking on Research in the header at the top of this page, and scrolling down to the section on Case knives. Welcome to AAPK.
