Read some of the knives were fakes and rehandled and the prices were twice the values but that’s all I know.

Maybe an expert knows…

I read in a FB group the same about rescaling on some of the knives, which is unfortunate. I did not see that disclosed on those items.

No doubt the prices really shot through the roof on most of the autos. I can't fault the auctioneer for the bidding action though. The prices began around a $10 minimum and there were certainly many people participating. In the seemingly big crowd, there were enough people determined to walk away with something not matter what, and they drove up the prices.

I stopped bidding when the water got too hot.

Ok, after posting my question about anyone buying anything in the Bradford Auction I finally received the 2 lots I won, 6 total knives, 2 non-auto, one identified incorrectly in the listing. It took two weeks for the mail house to pack and send, least expensive method they offered was around $84 for 6 knives, insured and signature required. A bit high. I am ok with the knives I won, one in particular I have been looking for. As usual with an auction I am asleep at the switch and think "one more bid" and don't take into consideration the 20% buyers premium.I really need to stay off auctions. I am not that knowledgeable on autos and I frequently pay too much but I buy what I like and just hope to spin off the excess.
I really enjoy the Forum and appreciate all the info that is posted there.

Don’t feel bad, auctions are my weakness. I don’t care if it’s eBay or standing in the rain in Amish country. It’s a disease. Let’s face it though,you can get great deals too.

Whoa Nelly, that's extortion! Were they wrapped in gold foil and hand delivered? That's one of the reasons I quit internet auctions. ::mdm::

I'm in Canada so shipping to me has always been costly, but $84. is robbery unless it came with a naked girl wrapped in gold foil and hand delivered! :x ::doh:: ::facepalm:: :evil: :shock:
The most I've paid for shipping was US$50. but that package came with a naked girl wrapped in gold foil and hand delivered by FedEx!
$84., jeez! ::facepalm::

Unfortunately there was no indication of shipping cost from the auction house. Only that they had partnered with a mail house to handle the shipments. I'm ok with what I paid for the knives even with 20% buyer's premium but when I was informed of the three options for shipping my head hit the desk. Choose the least expensive which was the $84.

Please don't get me wrong, John, I wasn't criticizing you, ::handshake:: you were forced to pay their price, my comments were strictly about how some people/companies take advantage of a situation and how it disgusts me. If I'd have won the knives I'd have paid any price to have them, including $84.! ::facepalm::

No problem Marco. I should have at least gotten the gold foil, the girl would have been a bonus!

These auction houses on line are constantly overcharging on shipping anything ,and then they act like they are doing you a favor.I've sold on Ebay and my own website for 30 years nearly and never charged anyone more than a few bucks handling.There needs to be some legislation about online auctioneers charging whatever they want after a online purchase.The buyer is stuck paying what boils down to their extortion fees.I feel that the Shipping & handling amount of each item should be put next to the item being sold so buyers would know and there cant be any BS overcharges. Combining items should also be explained and costs laid down for people to see. It can be done I do it on ebay daily.Hope you enjoy the knives that that place extorted you for sending I would avoid them in the future too.
