Some of my highlights from the past couple days....my first EVER Wharncliffe Pen knife

You always have the coolest finds Scott! When do you have time to play with the spoils?

99% is resold so I only clean to sell, and sometimes I don't do that.....but this was a recent find that I'm keeping..

I think I would keep that one too!

Great pick-ups everyone!

Here are a few I bought and traded for at the Pigeon Forge show this weekend. Unfortunately, it may be from shadows, but my camera did not bring out the bright colors and do the abalone copperhead justice.



Excellent array of beauty there bud. What a fabulous haul. Every one is a museum piece.



On the other hand, tried my luck, or lack thereof, on a couple autos. Wow what a disturbing disappointment. First there's the Italian AKC F-16. What a misnomer. It doesn't fly. It flops. Terrible wobble. Back and forth like 1/4 of an inch at the tip. Loose in and out, loose switch button, very clunky and boxy and wish I never bought it. The only upside is the teens in the extended family like this kind of junk and one of them will own this soon. Can't wait to get rid of it. Most buyers remorse I've had in quite a while. Gag me. I would tell anyone interested not to buy one. Complete cheap, lame, ugly junk. And loose as you can imagine. Maybe worse.

Then there's the Krate Tactical piece of, well let me think of the right word. Get back to that later. I was told it was USA made, USA company, only employed vets and that sounded good but it's not all true. First they don't put China on the box, on the blade, on the papers, nothing. Think there's something they are trying to hide IMHO. Then I read all these reviews online, saw vids on youtube, testimonials here on the forums, and gotta say I am sadly disappointed in all that rot. Nothing like I was told. This is clanky, boxy, nothing smooth about it, and guess what? Wobbles all over the place. And the worst thing about it was when it came it would not fire in nor out. Busted, broken, not assembled right, wouldn't work. Useless. Blade slid out on it's own and did not lock up or deploy, or hold in any position. Last I checked, that is not a characteristic of an auto. More like a scam, or a lemon. Yeah. I would say save your money, put it into a quality piece, don't support crappy companies or their crappy products. Insulting to think this is what some call a quality knife. Wrong. The only quality I see in it is failing to open, failing to close, the quality of low grade manufacturing, low grade design and blatant copy of say a ProTech or a MicroTech? Maybe. Another cheap POS knock off if you ask me. Don't waste your money here. I was sold a bill of goods and it was all a bull pile dropped out of the east end of a west bound bull. Not even good bull if you know what I mean because this won't help your garden like real bull piles will. I'm being nice here. Wish I had never even heard of the companies and their lame products. Should have thrown the money away. Then I wouldn't have these two pieces of junk taking up space. Wow what garbage they churn out in products and mission statement and in fooling people to think this is USA made. All bunk. DO NOT SUPPORT liars and con men companies who hide where their crap is made. Complete junk and the company is going to hear all about it and then some when I take out my verbal aggressions on their piss poor website. Take a good look because you'll never see me post this garbage again. What a joke, I was robbed, ripped off, and stolen from. Don't make the same mistake I did.

...it would not fire in nor out. Blade slid out on it's own and did not lock up or deploy, or hold in any position.

Did you try grabbing ahold of the blade and manually pulling it all the way out until it snaps back into the spring? I've had several OTFs and that's what I had to do if the blade tip hit something when being deployed (like someone's leg to see if the spring was strong enough to penetrate their jeans )

I've read the same complaints about the F-16's recently from 2 other members, just in case anyone thinks you might have bought a lemon, Iman. Apparently they're real junk.

I was a bit surprised to see them in the "Knifeshop", the Campolin's store, but after some thought remembered those guys are getting quite old and rather than build the knives any longer they're likely buying them and reselling them, and this was then confirmed when I saw the "Roma" models too, cuz those are made in China.

I guess this is where brick and mortar stores are best since you can handle and examine before you buy!

I'm clearing up some further back-log with this gang today that have all arrived by mail at one point or another!

7" oal Rough Rider RR1708 lockback with a SS drop-point blade, black aluminum covers, and brass liners lanyard tube and pins!

This one is a 9 1/2" oal handmade Navaja slip-joint that has a huge SS clip-point blade, NS bolsters, creamy white bone covers, brass liners and pins, accent stripes, and fileworked spring, and was sent as a gift along with a recent auto I bought!

This 8 1/2" oal rather intriguing unmarked, save for a "440 STAINLESS/JAPAN" front tang stamp lockback stiletto, sports a SS spear-point blade with long pull, no liners, steel pins, lanyard hole, and 2-piece almost cast iron or pewter frame! Intriguing, huh!

Up next is this 7 1/4" oal Fury lockback featuring a SS spear-point blade with n/n, brass bolsters liners and pins, lanyard hole, and some kind of dark wooden covers that have a faux abalone escutcheon on the mark side cover that I'm coming to believe is after-market and may attempt to remove!

And lastly for today is this 8 1/2" oal unmarked linerlock with a SS 60% serrated spear-point blade with a stud, 1 steel liner, screw construction, and green plastic 5-hole covers! The nice flowing shape of this knife trumped the serrated blade and plastic covers for me, and oh yah, the $25. price too!

Fine lineup of knives, the RR has a nice, clean look to it but I really like that spear on the Fury........and escutcheon is a really good word, glad you included it in the description!

Luv to do Brick and mortar local, but 4 of the 5 knife shops in Seattle area closed down, couldn't compete with online sales. Last shop has only kitchen knives, and one Buck, a small LB. Online or no line. Knife shows are once a year, gun shows around here have next to nothing. Usually online I'm not that disappointed. Better luck later I guess. Thanks for the tip, had to go look on youtube for vids of how to deal with that issue. Appreciate the help. Still seems wrong to me that it doesn't work out the box, and the wobble is pretty pronounced, not as bad as the F-16, but not good. Not sharp either, which is annoying. And I don't mind a bit of wobble like you sometimes get in a slip joint, but this is all over the place and it rattles. I don't like a pocket knife that rattles every time I take a step walking, or going up and down stairs. Kind of boxy, too many corners, pokey everywhere in the pants. It's like 6 strikes against it already. After 3 it's out.

They're all cool Marco, but that Fury is Da' Bomb! I really like that one!

You have the RR pegged, it is really clean all round, big part of why I bought it.
That blade on the Fury is what sold it for me, don't usually see many like that.
As for the word "escutcheon", I wanted to use that descriptive word but I had to look up it's spelling!

M&M, nice haul there! The Navaja slip-joint is pretty awesome is there a stamped maker's mark? Sometimes you don't see them on the handmade ones... sometimes you do. I was in Spain years ago and found a knife shop mainly carrying that type of knife, all handmade. I wasn't such a knife nut back then and didn't buy any...

the Krate Tactical OTF looks like a 100% Micro-tech rip off... look at the screws... that being said, I am not familiar with them at all... so I don't know how they handle. ... apparently NOT so good

It's a heavy knife too.
I don't know why he maker wouldn't want his/her name attached to it, it's a very solid well made knife.

It might be a craftsman in some smaller town or village, and he simply does not have a stamp to mark it. He might sell most out of his knives in a shop and local people know him and his product and then sometimes it ends up on a secondary market. I bought some knives in Turkey like that and then sold a couple of them a few years ago in Arizona, so that guy's knives made it halfway around the world and ended up in who knows where after I sold them...
Maybe some even went to Can... uh... Cambodia... Yeah ... Cambodia

I picked up these two used knives today. I love them both, but am listing them in the "knives for sale" thread. I just have more knives than I have storage!!!

They are a Schrade 125OT

And a Solingen copper-plated hunting knife with a picture of a Boy Scout etched into the blade.

The store mostly had flipper-style knives, including a Benchmade. I just didn't know enough about them to spot the difference between real or fake, so I settled on what I liked instead.
I had a fun time shopping!
