Question about a Case
Question about a Case
I have no reason to doubt the legitimacy of this knife, but I have never seen handle pins like this. Is this knife correct? Has it been repaired?
I am not bidding on it, just wanting to learn more. I have never seen anything quite like it, and am asking the experts.

Re: Question about a Case
Those look like ticking time bombs.
I had one of those glitter flake celluloid knives in my knife roll when it went off.
It destroyed 10 of my best knives when it outgassed. I believe the knives shown here are genuine but wouldn't take them if they were giving them away.

I think the "time bomb" may have already started going off. In the last picture look at the shield and the edge of the front bolster next to the scale.

Re: Question about a Case
Outgassing aside, I'm more curious about the different number of pins and the unusual placement. What would be the reason/purpose for having two or three pins right next to each other near the bolsters?

Q, I was wondering about that myself. Perhaps that material (goldstone?) is prone to curling up on the ends?

Tooling misfires on the peening device?

Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Re: Question about a Case
The pins were what caught my attention. They even looked to be different sizes. With three of them, I doubt that it is a mistake. Just something peculiar to that pattern, I suppose.
It still looks incredibly odd to me, though.
