Is this Vintage Remington legit?

I have gone back and forth on that knife several times. The knife looks great, especially the bone. The only thing that bothers me is the tang stamp on the secondary blade and the pattern number. I don't usually place too much stock in pictures of tang stamps because lighting etc. can distort them, but those stamps really look odd to me.

I'd love to have that knife in my hand to look at those stampings.

How many knife fakers would be able to create this knife, then decline to polish the bolsters?

I know that's not definitive.

Just my opinion.

I've only owned two Remingtons in my life, so maybe I shouldn't have spoken up. But, it sure looks right to me.

I certainly don't think this knife is a fake. It appears way too good for that. My question has more to do with the possibility of repair or replacement.

By the way, I noticed those bolsters too, and they certainly add to the authentic look of the knife.

I think Charlie is right, to have the knife apart and put a altered pen blade in you would have to clean the bolsters. I also thought the stamp looked a little shaky and light. I compared it to some stamps on other small Remingtons I think it is ok.

I feel sure the knife is authentic. I was the high bidder but I think someone outbid me, its not over yet though.

I'm no expert on Remington's, but those bolsters just look heavily tarnished to me. Nothing a little simi-chrome wouldn't polish up. After looking at his feedback and what he sells, he definitely is not a knifer and probably wouldn't know how to clean a knife up anyways.

Was kinda on the high side, but is in a fairly rare pattern and is near mint. Those old etched Rem's will bring top dollar.
