Whats The Odds?

Ok, Just picked up a 2 dot Case 5120R Its a little stag peanut that is missing the bale. So whats the odds of finding one of those and how exactly do they attach? Any Help would be great, RED

Chances of finding a bail are not good - there were not of knives made with bails during the time yours was made. You might find someone to make a bail for it (and attach it) in the Knife Repair subforum here. The bail is attached by the bolster pin, so attaching a new bail would likely require a new pin. https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/ca ... components

That's a nice little knife. If it were mine, I would contact Case. I just went through this, so I found out how it works. Go to.

They request you fill out the form and include up to 3 pictures of the knife and tell them if you're wanting warranty or repair work. I would think they would cover yours with warranty, but on mine I also included if it wasn't covered by warranty I would pay for the repair. Submit the form and they will contact you within a few days letting you know if they will accept your knife for warranty. They will also tell you once they have your knife in hand and inspect it, they may determine it isn't covered by warranty. I had a broken spring on a hobo, and they accepted it under warranty. It is in their possession now.
On the other hand, I'm 99% sure I have a bail that will work on your knife, not a factory bail, but one close enough it will work. I'll just have to dig a peanut out and dry fit one. I bought a bag of 100 mixed bails at the Lexington show a few years ago. I don't know what size that hole is but 1/16" is the smallest pin stock I have, and you would need only a pc that is an inch long. PM me if you want to go that route and try and fix it yourself.

Thanks for all your help! i sent the repair form in so ill wait for a response. But if you have that many bails im sure you have one that will work? I appreciate the offer. Lets see what they say. I wouldnt want to try and fix it myself but i know a knife guy thay claims he can take care of it? so i will let you know and thanks so much, RED
