I had an 0456 that looked a lot like that except for some minor differences.RedRaiderRick wrote: ↑Sat Oct 07, 2023 11:31 pm 20231004_182109.jpg
Carried my new ZT today. Discontinued limited edition bought on Ebay.
M4 blade in titanium handles. Big heavy knife but rides well in front pocket. First time carrying it since I got it.
Nice knife!

A G Russell, one handed light. Not my favorite but I like it because it weighs next to nothing.
Maserin EDC. Also light weight. I really like the profile of this knife which has blue paper Micarta handles. Sleek Italian design.

I am only slightly exaggerating, Oscar, when I say that what the Italians do not know about design is not worth knowing. You have a beauty in that Maserin.

This Camillus will be my carry knife today and into the indefinite future. I put an extra fine edge on it and it suits me perfectly.
And this will be today's desk knife.

Both of those knives are wonderful. I suspect that most of us rotate our EDC’s because we can’t decide which one is the best for us.
Congratulations on your choosing. It makes life simpler to stick with just one and that Camillus is a great choice ! Camillus is one of my longtime favorites along with Queen and Schatt and Morgan. That Camillus is truly a classic pocket knife. It is the “perfect” knife for everyday use.
The scales on that Bulldog are probably the best looking I’ve ever seen. And using it as a desk knife makes a lot of sense. Those scales are beautiful but more delicate and subject to break if it’s dropped. A good friend carries a knife with abalone scales. A beautiful knife but one I’d keep at home and not carry around in my pocket.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
Oscar, thank you for your thoughtful observations which I fully appreciate. A few points: while visible to me, my desk knives are not used. They are there for my enjoyment. So, even at my desk where I usually spend much of the day, when I need a knife I will use my edc. [I want to maintain my desk knives in "never carried, never used condition."]
The Camillus is going to be riding with me for a long time. I will still sometimes carry other edcs along with it but they will come and go according to my whims. I will not be showing the Camillus everyday. But even as I show other carry knives I know the Camillus will be with me. Besides its utility, the fact that it was a gift adds to the pleasure of employing it.

QS, I know the feeling of finding your favorite. I used to change my EDC’s weekly, just for fun. But ever since I had a cutoff grinder kick back on me and hit this 86 in my pocket instead of my leg it’s become my undisputed favorite, and I rarely carry anything else. My “lucky knife” if you will. The scars from the encounter are still clearly visible on the pile side cover.Quick Steel wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2023 2:51 pm The Camillus is going to be riding with me for a long time. To be perfectly honest, I’ve enjoyed watching this knife develop its character with constant carry and use. It’s one of only a couple in my collection that actually look and feel like “my knife”.

Killer knife in itself. But the story of saving your leg is even better. And that looks better and better with age. Great patina coming along. I read somewhere on a thread not so far away, that it's a shame to see all the old knives corroding away. When I see patina and colors like you have there I don't think it a shame, I think it looks great, it's a cool bit of character developing. And memories and events recorded on the blade itself. That's one of the coolest things about carbon steel and 1095. Love the color it leaves on the steel, the evidence of what you've cut and used it for. Very cool knife. That's great when you find one you don't want to switch out after a while too. Priceless. But that patina that stainless will never give you really nails it.
