Because you never know when you're going to need one. Plus, they're just cool.

I think that sums it up better than anything. I got my first pocketknife when I was a cub scout in about 1954. It was blue, and I thought it had too many oddball tools and not enough cutting blades, like the one my Grandad had, which was a stockman. About a year later I got a Case yellow handled stockman knife which I loved. I was up in a TiltaWheel at the county fair about 1956, and the guy down below kept rockin' the cars. After I got down and walked off, my knife was gone, along with my change, and I realized what the guy had been up to. I have cut my left index finger so many times whittling, that it goes numb when it gets cold enough. Right now I have a Schrade 880 stockman in my pocket, but it might be a 858OT, a Northfield 23, or a 1930's Craftsman 4 blade cigar cattle knife...... ::nod::

Gotta have atleast one if you're fishin, if you catch fish, you're gonna need another one.
Leatherman Wave is a good tool w/ the pliers an all, but the blades are the handiest and most usefull.
Even dressed up in a suit, a gentleman should always have at least a small pen knife, or maybe a little something extra for protection.
Emergency personnel know the importance of being able to cut someone out of a seat belt or clothing, quickly. And if we are driving a car, we should be able to do the same thing.
I would hate to be caught unprepared. Just a few thoughts !

I'm new to the knife collecting, thanks to my grandad's old camillus. I can only imagine that if you don't carry your knife all the time you won't have it when you need it most.
BTW- I looked up Burdizzo's, - that's not rite!

I have no reason really - I just have always carried a pocket knife - even way back in grade school. ::shrug:: I don't wear a watch nor my wedding ring (many jobs I did could mean the loss of my finger in the event of an accident), but have always felt naked without a knife.

Havin' been in the latter situation when the chips were way down, next time, I'll shoot the SOB, if I can't do that I'll run over him, if that fails, I'll write him a check.

Did anyone see on the news the other day about that burning SUV with a child trapped inside? You can hear on the video someone yelling "Get a knife"! Well they said there were 2 off duty fireman that arrived, and had a knife on them. They crawled in the burning SUV and cut the child free from the seatbelt. Good thing they had a knife ::tu::

I use it all day I work with my hands and in my yard after work.

Also because I can, and defensive, a knife can really neutralize a bad situation quick
