I wanted to take it with me for hikes and kayaking trips and just exploring my own property and nearby public trails.

GDogg!
What's with the blue rubber bands on the handle of the holstered pistol, ::shrug:: you usually only see that if the gun is "hot" so to speak, and the holder is attempting to keep his prints off it? Have you been hanging around any 7-11's lately? lol!
Seriously though, I assume they're to improve your grip? ::shrug:: Thx!

I think you're right. Opinels have pretty tight tolerances, so they'd have to see heavy use before one would be at serious risk of the blade folding up in use. Thanks to both you and Kim for the kind words! ::handshake::

I'm so embarrassed. I've never intentionally bought a China knife but the RR tie-dyed knife spoke to me. Snagged one on ebay for $16 shipped. I wonder if it comes with a free pack of rolling papers?

Hey Zed, you still a fan of friction folders such as Svord ? Do a search for HIROAKI OHTA knives. Way smaller than Svord. About the same size as a regular pocket knife. Comes with a leather slip.
Reasonable price Custom made. Check them out. About $60 US and up depending on the handle material. D2 steel blades.

Paul, I can't quite put my finger on it but there is something about that Barlow that really draws me. I think it is a very interesting acquisition and see why you traded for it.
