That is a good one, Dog, even though it is sad commentary on multiple fronts. Not exactly what the O'Jays had in mind, huh?

Hardly a day goes by that I don't see at least one lengthy coal train rumbling by, headed for power plants or to fill barges on the Mississippi. I recently read that a new EV battery plant being built in KC will require coal generated power to operate. It may also receive 6 billion dollars from the Federal gov't to allay construction costs, this as a result of the Inflation Reduction Act. Meanwhile, consumers are being asked to pay a hefty increase in elctricity rates to ensure that the plant will have an adequate supply of power at all times. ::hmm::

Ike I noticed that the coal train photo you posted only had one engine at the front, seems this is becoming more prevalent. I've noticed several here lately with one engine in front instead of two. This train was well over a mile and a half long with another engine at about half way. I saw a coal train back in the summer with two engines up front one in the middle and one at the end.

I was driving by a mill where cars were being filled with grain and managed to get the morning sun behind the mill for this shot. I like how it turned out with the grain dust and the American flag highlighted by the sun.
