INFO ON A COLONIAL KNIFE

INFO ON A COLONIAL KNIFE
Just worndering does any one know anything about a COLONIAL (PIC-NIC-PAL) pocket knife,what its worth,when they were made,any info would be helpful,THANKS.

Hello,
I looked up this brand in Bernard Levine's Guide to Knives and their values, and found out that there is a Colonial Knife Co. and a Colonial Cutlery Co. If I had to guess, I would say that yours is a Colonial Knife brand. They started manufacturing knives in Providence RI in 1926. In Mr. Levine's book, it says 1926 - present, but I'm looking at one of the earlier editions, and I don't know that they are still making knives. It is not a very collectable brand unfortunately. Levine rates it on the low end on the value scale. It looks like a handy knife however with lots of use left in it
If it happens to be a Colonial Cutlery knife, it would be more valuable, and would have been made after 1978 in Columbia TN... I highly doubt that is the case though.

I believe the two companies merged a few years ago....went into receivership...and have recently re-emerged, still run by the Paolantonio family (Steve) and making some better knives, as well as the lesser ones.
You might try emailing them with a picture, and your question. They might be able to help.
