Yep , always heard that. Orange tabby's are virtually always male, and calico's are almost always female.

A good day for cat napping. The moma, Luna, is closest; Ireland, her daughter, is further back. They like to play together but usually Ireland gets a little too rough and Luna hisses at her.

Bear living up to his namesake, winter hair coming in. Big sweetheart but tests at times like most new dogs do. Nipped in the bud as much ss you can with a giant dog with gentle discipline and persuasion. BIG BOY! Food consumption is astounding.

Elsa is a pure low maintenance sweetheart. She is so loving and easy to please. My best friend.

My best friends. Lot of time and work but worth every minute of it.

Thanks for the compliments Mark and Garry! Hope life finds you well my friends.

Bear is a big boy. Picture don't do justice versus one's eyes in person. Elsa is a looker Garry. Last of litter because she didn't have blue eyes. Her eyes are a beautiful Hazel color and have a sweet look to them. Who the heck picks a dog by eye color is beyond me. Her temperament is so mellow, loving and never mischievous.

I calculated Bear's food consumption per day and it is staggering.
His Body Condition Score or BCS is "ideal". Highest rating on the chart. Same with Elsa. May not treat my body like a temple for sure but I try my best to give them a healthy, happy life.
Elsa free feeds as she is not food driven.
Bear eats twice a day. 2 dry quarts of Science Diet at 6am and 6pm.

18.6 cups a day.

He is an active dog but still. Just is an insane amount of food.

Need to ask Vet as that is way over recommended by 3 times. He is still a pup at 18 months but wow. His BCS is perfect. Likely still growing.

Take care Gents. Jerry

As you can see Moki is growing up quickly. Hard to believe he was this small when we got him back in April. Already he is the second largest dog in our pack. Still has the sweetest disposition of any dog I’ve ever known. He is a handsome dog. Still working on getting him to catch. Both Goldens I’ve had and have before were the best catchers you ever saw. He is getting it but not at the level of Scout or our much missed Kobi. Hopefully it will come. I need a way to wear him out and a ball is a great way to do it. Anyway, thought you would like to see his progress.

Thank you Dan, Kim and Garry. It has been a real blessing to be able to see a Golden grow up right in front of my eyes. The other two Golden’s we’ve had and have were both rescues and we missed out on seeing this stage. What fun they are. We have a lot funny video’s too but I can’t post those here on the forum, at least I don’t think I can.

That’s a great picture Jackknifeben. I can’ take my eyes off the car though. Looks like a Pontiac emblem on the side, but for the life of me I can’t remember what the name of that car is?

I was out this morning with the dogs and took some fall pictures and decided to take some of the dogs. As you can see Moki is getting big. He is almost as big as Scout, she is in the last picture. The one with Moki with a stick in his mouth is so typical of his daily activities. He is holding onto a stick a lot. An odd thing that he does is dig up and carry rocks. He is so funny to watch. He throws his head back again and again when he is trying to pick up a rock, it’s hilarious. He carries them so carefully, guess he doesn’t want to damage his teeth.

Some Labs eat and swallow rocks. I am sure Moki will have better manners.

Among the vets I have known Labs are notorious for swallowing many items. I have seen x-rays of a Labs stomach filled up with sizable rocks. Behavior like this results in costly operations.

Thanks Kim and Garry. Fortunately we have never seen him swallow a rock. He usually just picks them up and carries them around. He brings them into the house as well. Most are much too big to swallow. He gets excited when he digs one up too. Every Golden Retriever we have had had some quirk that they obsess over. For my Kobi it was any ball you picked up. For my Girl Scout it’s a certain ball that she has to play with and no other will do. For Moki it’s the rocks.
Here is a picture of Scout ready to go outside my wife took a couple of days ago. This stare is what she gets anytime you pick up her ball or she sees it. Wish we knew more about her upbringing to try and figure this out, she was a rescue dog and we got her when she was already 3 years old. She had some serious toy aggression right off the bat and this. The toy aggression she is past but not the “stare”.

We had a Pekinese that would carry rocks around. Some tines would chew on them. She liked the white decorative rocks from the flower bed.

My mother-in-law's Cocker Spaniel would chew on rocks, just to perturb my mother-in-law I think. 🤭
