Your knife with those materials, is what my mind's-eye sees as the perfect knife. My jaw dropped when I saw it. I'd bet dollars for donuts that it's nice n' heavy too. If that's the kind of knives you own, please show us more. Please understand, that's not to say the knives you've been posting aren't great, it's simply that one really spoke to me as I was crusin' on by! This was my reaction from a picture, I'd probably do zoomies around the walls if I saw it in person!

It definitely has a substantial bit of heft to it! It's very well made. I'm glad it wasn't in perfect cosmetic condition when I found it. Now I can carry it with no worries!

We had quite a discussion about those Al Mar Secret Service knives awhile back that included Gary Kennedy, and the general consensus from all of us was what a great knife it is. My vote hasn't changed, what a great knife! And those liners sure do appear to be copper and not brass, although, I doubt I'd have noticed that had you not pointed it out to me.

You guys should be complimented on your taste in cutlery, so, "I-man, Garry, you guys have wonderful taste in cutlery, thanks for sharing it with us! lol!

Thanks Kerry!! I've had that canned water since the flood we had in around 2011 I believe! I agree the Sodbuster has a great design. Just cant put it up yet. Really loving getting to know it.

I can't help but wonder if Anheuser-Busch started donating canned water to woo people back to buying Bud Light, which is basically canned drinking water?

Anyway, here's my EDC - for opening mail and packages and what not. One of the 3 or 4 keepers from the Goodwill auctions.

That's an Al Mar "Quicksilver" model, Kim, also referred to as a "Secret Service" knife.
I also own a copy, and it's a great knife, perfect for many things should it be legal for you to carry in your purse.
Of course, it's MUCH nicer in hand!

Now that's what I'm talking about Nice photos TMK If you post it again, I wouldn't mind seeing an up-close shot of the tang stamp (I am always interested in the tang stampings especially on custom knives). That is a winner!!!

Thanks for that info Marco. I didn't find that exact one online yet though but I did find a couple of nice sleek ones. I did look up the carry laws for NJ and there's no blade length rule, but rather the "intent" thing and no switchblades or balisongs etc. I always thought that there was a law regarding blade length in NJ and so did my husband from when we were both younger, so they must have changed it in NJ at some point.

As far as the dubious "intent" thing goes, if I ever needed to use it and actually had to courage to do it, I'd probably be screwed by the court of law unless I was fending off an animal, which some "people" are....

I was under the impression that California was the only state with blade length restrictions, I learned something new today. Unless NJ laws recently had changes in accordance with all the law repeals that are going on now.
On the other hand, I was under the impression autos and bali's are and always have been legal in NJ, shows how much I know!
You might not be able to find much info online about the "Quicksilver" cuz it's discontinued. There should be some past info though.

This has been quite a turn-around for me:

Typically I have not enjoyed carrying a Congress pattern knife. Just this week I traded off a Case Congress that was a good knife, I just didn't carry it much anymore.
But when my parents gave me this John Primble Congress this weekend, and I have carried it for several days now.
I think mostly it is the size of the thing: I normally carry a full-sized Stockman or something similar, and at over 4 inches this is a heavy, solid knife!
Here it is, compared to my Case 6254 Trapper.

What's with companies using natural disasters and manmade ones to promote their brands??? I forget what the dishwashing soap was, but I think it was Dawn or something, after a big oil spill they showed commercials with volunteers cleaning off birds covered in oil with their soap. Then there was Tide, who saved the day with washing machines that they brought in and supplied everyone with free Tide detergent for their laundry - I think that was Katrina or something.

Anyway, here's what my future "purse carry" might be.

This is another model you may wish to consider for purse carry, Kim. It's similar to the model you posted, but it has a smaller flipper-tab that once engaged whips the blade out as fast as an auto via spring assistance and is less intrusive, as well as the flipper-tab not protruding from the frame when open like it does on the posted knife, which IMO makes the knife more streamlined.
It's an Al Mar designed Kershaw AM-5 2340 "Speedsafe" spring-assisted frame-lock, has an 8Cr13Mov drop-point blade, beautiful G-10 and steel covers, and is very well made.
Currently available at www.kershaw-knives.net $33.29 + shipping (?) and worth every dime of it!

Kim, one thing to be aware of is that within some states there are local laws concerning knife carry that are more restrictive than the state laws. Some states have eliminated that issue giving the state law priority over a local law. Unless you know that the state gives priority over local laws you should check local regulations where you are travelling.
