Greetings fellow knife enthusiasts. I am new to posting on forums so this is a trial run because I like the topic. I recently acquired a Bear MGC rb62 in what they call "red bone stag," a Case Butterbean & a great deal on a ZT 0609 (not shown because I hope it's not fake). Here's my cheesy attempt at posting a photo. first ever attempt at such a thing so bare with me.

Carl Augustus Meis Solingen knife advertising Henkel Metylan wallpaper paste powder. I am a little confused by this pattern. I have heard similar ones described as a locksmith's knife--the hole on the end is to operate an older-style door knob (we've still got one on the basement staircase door in the kitchen, and it's a little loose, so I may test it out), and the backside tool is a tack puller (as opposed to yet another doorknob tool). Bottle opener in tang is something you'll see on many Solingen ad knives.

Carl Meis also made some of the Fightin' Rooster knives as I understand. We don't have a lot of info on them here.

I like cheap old scissors, especially quality ones. At $1 plus shipping, I'd include this seven-inch pair made for Shapleigh Hardware in that regard. Still sharp, still perfectly usable.

The only markings are "SHAPLEIGH's", "7-INCH", and "40" is cast into each blade. I am really curious as to who made them, or if they are imported. I had first misread "7-INCH" as "INOX" and had assumed they were Italian, but I suspect now they were made here in the States. I've only been able to rule out Clauss and Wiss--aka the main scissors companies in the US. Thus, my guess is that it's a knifemaker.

Good scores, Cody! Those scissors look killer!

The red bone stag rocks. Good looking knife. The pics are fine, don't worry about cheesy, they are better than that. Good show and keep them coming. Nice of you to favor us with whatcha got and always like seeing stuff like you posted. Welcome to the club, nice to have some new blood around. ::tu:: ::tu::

Another unexpected auto I'd already written off to Customs arrived today much to my surprise! The padded envelope it came in that clearly had 1 small box inside and nothing else and should definitely have been caught by an agent and/or the X-Ray, sat in Customs since August 21st. and wasn't even inspected! That's 2 in a row now that weren't inspected, what's goin' on! ::shrug:: The Customs agent who has my number must be on vacation! ::hmm::
Whatever is goin' on I certainly don't object, all it means to me is 2 more beautiful autos for my accumulation, the 1st. being the RPK/Russian Prison Knife I recently posted!
The knife is 7 1/2" oal and has "AKC/Italy" etchings, although, to the best of my knowledge AKC doesn't make anything like this, etched on it's SS dagger blade that also displays 2 identical holes drilled through the tang although I haven't the slightest idea why, NS hardware, black ebony covers with designed holes, and brass pins one of which is headless and can be easily removed for spring replacement.
To be totally honest, this knife looks to me like a cross between a Microtech leverlock and a Leverletto leverlock, since it has traits from both those models! The closest comparison I can think of is the AGA Campolin "Mini Dominus" that's recently had a resurgence of interest and is currently one of only a few that are again available at 3Knives.com after a long absence.
This ideal little EDC auto fires fast an' hard followed by a firm and secure lock-up and feels right at home in the palm of my hand!

Thank you much, Kimster! ::handshake::
The above knife actually looks much better in hand, my foggy pictures certainly don't help. ::facepalm::
I'm pleased you seem to like my RPK as much as I do, it's a great knife! ::groove::
Wut-up with the deleted PM yesterday, I thought you knew you can tell me anything? ::shrug::

Another interesting bit of hardware there, Marco! The Customs people are getting to know you and just letting them pass on through, but trust me, you're on a list somewhere! :D

Kim!
The message is just like any other PM, but it's title is "Deleted by the author", and when I clicked-on it thats exactly what happens, it deletes. It was new to me too, I hadn't seen that before.
As long as it wasn't important and you're good with it I'm good with it, my friend! ::handshake::

Kerry!
I seriously doubt that simply because they've come to know me or at least are recognizing my packages that they are cutting me any slack, that would be highly illegal and if they were to do something illegal that would be going against their finely-tuned Custom agent import morals, and I'm certain they've taken some sort of blood oath with their local witch-doctor to never let that happen! lol!
On the other hand, I am certain I'm on a list somewhere! ::paranoid:: ::facepalm:: ::sneaky:: ::hmm::
It's a pretty cool little knife, thanks for your compliment, buddy! ::handshake::

Aways enjoy seeing what comes to other folks' mailboxes! That little green Case with the duck head is a winner, Miss Kim! I would guess that one was a Ducks Unlimited promotional piece? ::shrug::
I can't get enough of these Queen Big Chief knives, especially those with a full blade in the shallow end of the Bay. This one has a has a few scratches, has a half stop, the blade is full and the walk and talk is great!

I have always admired those QBC knives, TF, but even their secondary prices are way outta my league. I saw them on ebay not long ago with prices exceeding $900. but couldn't understand why. They're so simple and inexpensive looking that I can't make the connection to high prices. They're selling so there must be something to them.
Congratulations on acquiring your more I'm certain reasonably less costly copy! ::handshake::

Yesterday's mail brought me this gem from Sharpnshinyknives. A first-generation Bulldog Sowbelly Stockman bearing some of the prettiest stag I've seen. The term "Old World Craftsmanship" was used in advertising to suggest great care and skill. It was sometimes even applied to U.S. made products. Today much of the old world has disappeared and along with it much of its touted craftsmanship.
Nevertheless, pockets of that rare quality persist into the 21st century and I offer this BD as an example.

I will repeat these photos in the BD thread.
