Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
I was really happy to find this one, TopDog! It was very rusty, buy luckily it was only on the surface. The handles are in really decent shape considering it's age. The hairline is exactly the same on the other side, but you can't even feel most of it with your fingernail. It's still really tight the blade sharpened right up, and she walks and talks like new. I just love these old knives!!!GSPTOPDOG wrote: ↑Sat Sep 09, 2023 3:10 amtoomanyknives wrote: ↑Sat Sep 09, 2023 1:46 am Here's my latest. Very true, but honestly one of my favorites is the Rough Black Case stuff from way back. It's not bone, and it's not delrin, but I sure like the way it looks..Here's my old Tested 6318. I really dig the looks of it..GSPTOPDOG wrote: ↑Sat Sep 09, 2023 3:34 amtoomanyknives wrote: ↑Sat Sep 09, 2023 3:26 amOh, and not a thing wrong with your Camillus. but Derlin is just NOT bone....

I mat have to score this Case Cheetah. I assume they are a cut above standard Case fit/finish? Talk me off the ledge!

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
Got an email from Case yesterday about these purple barn board jigged bone knives. They had me at Barlow. Ordered one and can’t wait to see it.

Got in my purple barn board jigged bone Barlow and am pleased with how nice it is. Looks a lot like the one in the picture. I was afraid it would be more washed out in appearance, but as you can see it’s very dark in purple color.

Picked up this old pocket-worn survivor over the weekend. Super snappy action, zero wobble and crack free. Used, but not abused (well, the blades are a bit scratchy). Should I try to get the scratches out or leave as is? Opinions?

Beauty, love the bones and jigging on those from that Era. I don't mind the scratches personally. But I've sanded out my fair share too. These days I leave them. Battle wounds and a record of it's life I don't want to erase.

I agree with Ivoryman, I'd leave that one as is. Some stories to tell, for sure!
