I received this a few weeks ago (so it is technically a mail call I think - lol) and I'm not sure if this is authentic or not, but hoping it is ::fc::

It looks like someone painted the blade with a dull gray paint, so the markings are difficult to make out.

I'm not sure why someone would paint the blade or if I should try to remove it ::shrug::

Anyway, I'm hoping someone on here can help me out with this sucker. I posted it in the Knife Q & A thread, but I don't know how much traffic that thread gets, so I'm just putting it out here too.
Cool knife! Have one of the newish Colonial repos of the Mk.1 Curious on how much you had paid for it.
Just saw this, sorry these threads get a little confusing for me sometimes. $627  ::dang::
I sent it back to the seller today for a refund, so it's all good.
That's good to know.

A week or so back, I saw an old Pal for sale. No one had bid on it, so I took a chance. As the pictures will show it is well used and was in need of a little tender care. The secondary pen blade has a half stop and a very strong walk and talk. The main clip is a bit short and still walks and talks but more like an old man. No half stop on this blade. This tang stamp is Pal Blade Co arch over Made In USA, the bolsters are steel. I'm assuming the steel bolsters were due to war time manufacturing. I have another almost identical Pal, it has a Pal Cutlery Co stamp and the bolsters are NS and has no half stop on either blade. Pal knives seem to be rare in our part of creation.
A HOK for sure, well used and worn.

Cleaned up a bit and treated to a Lansky sharpening.

Seem to be identical patterns just different tang stamps.

I agree Marco, he is a very generous dude! He actually did send the beautiful bone Schatt & Morgan mini trapper "BOMB" pictured below with my last shipment and has been giving me very fair deals on everything I have purchased.

Thanks Kim, appreciate your compliments and that's an interesting knife you posted.

Q is a highly regarded member of the forum and does not have a store. He was just selling a few pieces from his collection.

From Sanders Knives here (though through eBay).

Carl Augustus Meis Solingen knife advertising Henkel Metylan wallpaper paste powder. I am a little confused by this pattern. I have heard similar ones described as a locksmith's knife--the hole on the end is to operate an older-style door knob (we've still got one on the basement staircase door in the kitchen, and it's a little loose, so I may test it out), and the backside tool is a tack puller (as opposed to yet another doorknob tool). Bottle opener in tang is something you'll see on many Solingen ad knives.

Carl Meis also made some of the Fightin' Rooster knives as I understand. We don't have a lot of info on them here.

I like cheap old scissors, especially quality ones. At $1 plus shipping, I'd include this seven-inch pair made for Shapleigh Hardware in that regard. Still sharp, still perfectly usable.

The only markings are "SHAPLEIGH's", "7-INCH", and "40" is cast into each blade. I am really curious as to who made them, or if they are imported. I had first misread "7-INCH" as "INOX" and had assumed they were Italian, but I suspect now they were made here in the States. I've only been able to rule out Clauss and Wiss--aka the main scissors companies in the US. Thus, my guess is that it's a knifemaker.
