AGA Campolin, generally poor quality?
Hi all,
I had ordered an AGA Campolin Maltese 11'' and received it today.
The knife looks beautiful at first, but after a deeper inspection I came across things that disappointed me.
This is not the first time because I have had similar problems with previous knives that i orderder from Knifeshop.
It seems as if there is absolutely no quality control for their AGA Campolin knives and maybe other brands too.
But before I send ANOTHER complaint, I want to be sure whether my complaints are justified. Because i dont want to
be a d*ck customer also.
The things I think are manufacturing defects:
1. I have to push the button all the way in before the blade opens. Normally you don't have to press the button that deep to open the blade. I already tried to put some quick release oil in the hole but it didnt help at all
2. The blade opens faster one time than the other time
3. Excessive gaps between liners, spring/locing tab frame and bone handles
4. Very thin crack covering almost entire handle
5. The tip of the blade is not sharp but almost round. The bevel line should be in centre but on top there is a small curve
6. Blade not well polished. You see black spots on the metal
Can you guys look at the pictures and give a honest opinion?
Thank you all,

From your description and pictures, it looks like you have a bad
knife. Asking for a refund or replacement that is of better
quality is in order.
The most important point is you are not satisfied now, and
probably never will be. This should not occur with a new knife.

So you guys agree that these things are mistakes? Especially the large gaps between the liners and handle?
I hate sending items but think there is no other option

Without question.....send it back. That one should not have left the factory.

I did receive an reply from them.
I asked for a replacement but shesaid that i can send back the knife and will get a refund.
Also she said that her boss begs me not to buy anymore from their website because their knives are handmade and thats their standard quality.
I'm very disappointed man. That was very harsh of them. Didnt expect this

That is a disappointing response, guess they don't need any business?

I'm new here and don't know crap but that piece of trash angers me for you.

I have no problem with minor flaws in handmade knives. I consider that normal because after all it is handmade. But a knife of which the handles clearly do not fit properly between the bolsters and are just beaten on, is something far from standard quality.RedRaiderRick wrote: ↑Thu Sep 07, 2023 2:42 am I'm new here and don't know crap but that piece of trash angers me for you.
The bad and slightly curved tip, which clearly shows that a mistake has been made during grinding, also has nothing to do with '''standard quality''.
There boss (Angelo) is probably frustrated because many people complain about their knives? I dont know.
I think it is what it is and will probably not buying anymore from knifeshop.com
