Just got these in the mail. I don’t know a thing about the Hubertus. It seems real IHOPE. ANY THOUGHTS. Also the tiny antler and the horn 9 in. They look OLD! Is that a “flat guard”?

I know less about switchblades than many on here, so I am going to sit back and wait for the experts.
But I did want you to know that those knives look beautiful.

Very nice group, Smitty, they all appear legitimate to me.
I believe that is a flat-guard.
The wasp body models are sought after, so they're most likely more valuable, and the Hubertus "Guardian" is discontinued so it's definitely more valuable.

I may be dumb but it almost impossible to close that midget knife. It says inox on it. I had to stick an object inside the liners and push the back spring up to close it. I thought I could pick it but it’s a strong one.. My thumb nail broke. Is there a easy way? The 9 in. Rostfrei /Patent is a button lock! My only one. I’ve never seen one before. Really different.

Also the Hubertus only opens fully if you hit the release FAST. I cleaned and lubed it but no joy. It works but it could be better. I hope the spring is where it is supposed to be.

I can't tell from your picture, but perhaps the mini is a button open/button close model. Try holding down the button at the same time as folding the blade closed, if it's a BO/BC it will close smoothly.
If that doesn't work then it's simply a knife that's too small to be a picklock and will always be difficult to close, unless perhaps a drop of Quick Release oil on the lock-tab might help.
Some folks are quite stricken with those mini's, personally I don't see the attraction, I'd much prefer having a full size auto.

The 9 in. Is a button lock. The little guy has a hole in blade like pic/bolster locks do. The TINY back spring could keep a 13 in. knife closed! it’s a bear!

All the knives are legitimate.
None are flat guards.
The dagger is a modern Italian knife, as is the Massaro-made (for AB) lever lock.
The mini is a pic lock. you should just be able to slide your thumbnail under the tab to close.
The Guardian is real. These knives prefer grease on the tangs rather than oil.
The BO/BC is the oldest.

Thanks Bill! I lost part of my thumb nail trying to lift it. I oiled it thinking it was froze but it does lift with MORE pressure. That little spring is just really strong. It does work though!

Are you sure the finger guards aren't bent, binding the backspring?
Those little springs are pretty thin.

You know,that might be it Bill. It’s funny the spring does not have ANY problem going back down though. I would hate to pry on it.

Bill had the correct way to open it. Slide your thumb nail under it. I was trying to lift it with my thumb nail and that’s the wrong way. Thanks Bill,I only have one thumb nail left. Marco,your opinions are like gold to me!

As long as you got it figured out, Smitty, that's what matters.
I'm flattered that you value my opinion, my friend, but you can't always take my "gold" to the bank, sometimes I get it all wrong so be sure to do your due diligence along with my suggestions.
