I installed a console vault in my 2018 Honda Pilot. I purchased it from consolevault.com

Great for temporary storage of a gun or valuables… and provides quick access to the gun while in the car… should it ever be needed

I can leave the top of the console rolled back… have the safe unlocked but closed… then simply twist the knob the spring loaded door will pop open

More likely… I will simply use the vault to lockup my firearm when I can’t take it with me (into a post office or school)

Easy to install and bolts to the bottom of the car using the existing OEM threaded bolt holes

Just wondering about those of you who like me shoot a lot more rimfire ammo today than in the past. What do you think of the ammo now? Since the "rimfire ammo crunch" has ended and ammo is much more readily available (but not cheap by any measurement), by my estimation some brands have made gains and some losses. I think 2 of my old favorites, CCI and Federal have remained relatively constant in quality. Remington, despite going thru bankruptcy and spinning their ammo manufacturing off into a new company seems to be doing OK. I think Winchester has gone down the toilet big time. I recently bought 1000 rounds of a black box offering called Winchester M22 that was some of the worst rimfire ammo I have ever seen. The large amount of "duds", oversize cases that would not chamber (had to push it into the cylinder of several revolvers with a wooden dowel) because it is loaded on worn out tooling, and something I have never seen before, a large number of bullets that had separated from the cases laying with loose powder in the bottom of the carton. Also some imported ammo that has proven to be of very good quality and shoots well in most all of my rimfires are Aguila, the Mexican manufacturer, and Armscor, the Philippines maker that also builds the line of pistols and revolvers that are sold by Rock Island in this country.

One of my favorites for plinking is the Federal Automatch shown which shoots very well in the Ruger10/22 and MKIV semi autos.

OC, I site all my 22s in with Federal Automatch. Doesn't jam in my guns, and is very consistent. It's my favorite for plinking. I also like Aguila. I have shot a variety of it, and it runs well - just maybe a little dirty. But that doesn't bother me. You have to clean them anyway.

Like many of us…. I also have a half a dozen or so different brands of .22lr in the cabinet.

Luckily, of all the .22lr rifles and handguns I have, none are currently finicky about ammo. (That’s probably because I have little tolerance for finicky firearms… and have sold the ones that would only run reliably on ‘this or that’ ammo.)

When I was shooting bullseye matches (now called precision pistol) I used CCI std velocity in my S&W Model 41. That’s the only time I cared about what ammo I put in which gun.

The Armscor brand .22wmr runs well in my magnum .22s

Very interesting comments about your ammo experiences. While I don't have it in .22, I'd like to give a plug for my favorite ammo namely Fiocchi. By far the cleanest ammo I've ever fired. Excellent accuracy as well.

I see the current administration has issued an executive order to cease all federal funding to public schools which teach gun safety and/or archery classes. ::shrug:: What a moron!

While it is only occasionally available in 22lr in this area, I have shot quite a bit of centerfire Fiocchi and agree that it is very good stuff. Their brass is also excellent for reloading.
Those of you who have shot the Mexican made Aguila 22lr, have you noticed that upon firing the resulting smoke has a sweet, perfumy smell? Or is that just me?

I am sure the various states have organizations like South Dakota does that would do a much better job than the schools. In SD we have the SD Shooting Sports Assn, the SD Dept of Game Fish and Parks Outdoor Campus, and other excellent youth shooting groups. Last week I took my buddy's boy to the gunclub with me. He recently got his hunters safety card after taking one of our state programs. Our first time out I watched him very closely to see what his gun handling was like, and it was top of the line as far as safety was concerned.

We shoot a lot of Fiocchi 12 ga in sporting clays. 1 oz, 7.5, around 1250 fps when we can get it. We also shoot a lot of Bornaghi. Someone at the club usually buys a huge load of flats, and we will take 5 or10 flats each to split the costs. Right now we are paying around $80 to $85 a flat (flat is 250 shells).

I like them both better than Federal or Winchester loads.

Yes… there is a loss.

A big loss.

Loss of liberty…

Loss of our right as parents and local school districts to say what will and won’t be taught

The Feds, now essentially American Communists led by FJB and evil cronies bent on destruction of this country, should be stopped at all cost.

We cannot let them continue to chip away at liberty and continue their tyrannical overreach at the federal level.

When you take something out of school… how many students WON’T get to participate that would have participated in school.

Firearm safety and archery and whatever should be able to be taught in school… if the local school wants it. It’s NONE of the feds da*n business.

I agree. I was taught archery in high school, didn’t have an actual team that competed but years later that was added. My cousin’s two daughters were top competitors at the state level.
Both of my kids had hunter safety in school. If parents objected they could opt out. Many of smaller schools offered it.
Firearms safety should be required at all schools, especially in cities. Start with the NRA Eddie Eagle program in grade school. Children of responsible gun owners learn it at home
But many/most kids don’t have that option.

Off my soapbox for now.

What I am saying is it would be many times better to have gun safety courses taught by Certified NRA Safety Instructors than by public school teachers. The teachers union, the NEA is one of the most rabid anti gun groups around. As far as it not being available to everyone, the National Shooting Sports Foundation and other groups have online videos, class finders, and online training for gun safety. Most areas dont have this in the schools now, we dont here.

When I was in the local public schools, we had several teachers who were hunting enthusiasts and went out during all the Fall game seasons. I would have trusted any one of them to teach firearms training, but it wasn't offered in my schools. The state of Maryland is ran by Baltimorons.

It wasn't available in schools when I was a kid either. Dad, an older brother, and other family members all added their ideas, which was a LONG time ago now. lol

Sorry to be late getting back to this. My point is that it is gross federal over reach by the Biden administration. The federal government, whether Biden or anyone else has no business telling local school districts what to do. Locally elected school boards, and the administrators and teachers they hire should determine the curriculum, not some bureaucrat in Washington.

As for there being others more qualified, that may or may not be true. In Texas you cannot get a hunting license without first passing a hunter safety education course (those of a certain age were “grandfathered in” when the law was passed - my boys had to take the class - I didn’t). The curriculum is set by the state. Some school districts offer that class as a convenience for students wanting to take it - it’s an elective. Some schools also have shooting clubs, fishing clubs, archery clubs, etc, with a faculty sponsor or sponsors. I guess the feds would rather those students be gang members.

For the feds to tell a community they can’t teach gun safety, archery, or for that matter tiddlywinks, without losing funding is unacceptable. Period. Determining curriculum appropriate for local needs is the job of local authorities.

Interesting item I read yesterday. The Feds have lifted the licenses from 122 FFL gun dealers since last October for minor paperwork errors. In the meantime Hunter Biden walks free after perjuring himself on the 4473 gun purchasing form.

Yes, it is disgusting. I’ve had a FFL for 32 years and have only had 1 inspection and that was over 25 years ago. I keep wondering when they will be at my door
Thankfully the NSSF sponsors monthly ZOOM meetings to keep us up to date on latest follies of the ATF. The information I have received from these meetings will hopefully save my backside when that inspection does happen.
When NICS was set up inspections were supposed to happen every 3-5 years.

Very similar to how getting huting license up here. Had to take my Hunters safety and PAL, the hunters safety is run in the provence, PAL/gun ownership is federal. Not taught in schools though.
The previous lisense system was FAC, ran from 77' to 95.

Over the years I have owned several different 9mm semi auto pistols. The last one was a plastic / fantastic polymer frame that after I had shot a box of ammo thru it I really did not like it. The grip felt weird, trigger was awful, and it had failure to extract issues. Anyway, I shot it for about 18 months and still did not like it and decided it had to go. Traded it off this week and got what I always had wanted for a 9mm pistol, the Browning High Power. This is the SA35, which is Springfield Armory's 21st century update of the classic Browning design. No more plastic for me, this one is all steel with walnut grips. The changes that Springfield Armory has made are minor, better sights, feed ramp changed slightly to feed JHP loads, no magazine safety for better trigger pull, 15 shot magazine, and changing the hammer spur to prevent hammer bite on the web of the hand. I have now shot 3 boxes of JHP and FMJ thru it and is 100% reliable so far. I did not have a holster to fit it, so I made a new one in the pancake design with 2 sets of belt slots to vary the angle as needed.
