It may be rare, but the condition is pretty rough.

Who says it was only made five years? It is not the first model KA-BAR-LO which has more fancy bolsters. Fixing that knife would likely not be worth the cost. Welding up blades and/or springs is not an inexpensive process. Then you would have a "repaired" knife which would not be worth what a nice original is.

I don't know where you found that chart, but it is incorrect as most charts are. Even the date/mark charts put out by the KA-BAR Collectors Club is so full of inaccuracies as to render it pretty useless. Again, it is not the first model of KA-BAR-LO and not the highly sought after one with the fancy bolsters. Sorry you paid so much for a poor example. Even if you get the backspring business fixed, the blade is short and well sharpened.

I said $30 because I am a Barlow collector. Most collectors probably wouldn't pay that much.

I'm not trying to argue or hurt your feelings. You asked a question and received answers.
I would say just go back and look at your own pictures that you posted. This knife is in pretty poor condition.
If you spend another $50 on this knife you will have $120 in a $30 knife.
