Thanks Carl! Wish you could have been there too. It was my first time meeting Ryan. He is a great guy and gave me a lot of good information on the Daniels Family brands.Rookie wrote: ↑Fri Aug 18, 2023 8:22 pmWow Kevin that's quite a haul! I love the stag on those knives. And the blue coral on the Kraken is pretty unique and eyecatching too. I'm jealous you got to go to the Kentucky show, it is always a good time and a nice location. Wish I could have been there.knifeaddict1965 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 18, 2023 7:48 pm Great looking knives as always, Carl.
Was wondering if I would ever get to post any pictures on this thread, and fortunately I had some good luck at the Lexington knife show today and traded for some Tuna Valley, Excelsior, & Titusville knives. It was great to meet and talk with Ryan and the other dealers and work out some deals.
I love the beautiful stag on the Tuna Valley and Titusville. The handle materials on the Excelsiors wouldn't have been my first choice, but they were the only Excelsior's available, and I probably couldn't have afforded them in stag or pearl. My goal today was to walk out with my first Tuna Valley & Excelsior. Never thought I would end up with 4 of these awesome knives plus the beautiful Titusville.

He's a knife guy through and through, been around all the big-name dealers since he was a kid. He's very knowledgeable about historical brands and patterns, and is always looking for something unique that he could try to recreate.knifeaddict1965 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 18, 2023 8:36 pm Thanks Carl! Thanks Dan!
Continuing with the whittler, this was a factory sample made before the production releases. It's a bit more crude, and the action is a little stiff. I'm sure there were some minor tweaks made to it before the production order went through.

Carl, first thing I do every time I log on to AAPK is scan the new listings looking for "Tuna Valley Picture Show", my favorite thread to peruse and a great way to start the day
Don't know what I'll do if/when you finally run out of knives to show
Hopefully that won't be for a long long time

For today's installment of the show, this is the 2012 Queen made lockback in ebony wood. Some call it a stabber jack. But the top side of the blade isn't sharpened, just has a nice looking swedge. It is built on the same frame as the Swing Guard that was posted earlier, just without the guard.

Whenever I see a Queen or S & M single spear-point swinguard, Carl, my first thought is, "I bet that would look good without the swinguards",Rookie wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 12:06 pm For today's installment of the show, this is the 2012 Queen made lockback in ebony wood. Thanks Madmarco! I agree, it's a great looking knife, and paired with the ebony wood really sets it up for a gentleman's high end slicer.Madmarco wrote: ↑Sat Aug 26, 2023 10:40 pmWhenever I see a Queen or S & M single spear-point swinguard, Carl, my first thought is, "I bet that would look good without the swinguards",Rookie wrote: ↑Fri Aug 25, 2023 12:06 pm For today's installment of the show, this is the 2012 Queen made lockback in ebony wood. Thanks Iman, glad you are enjoying the show so far. I'm starting to hear whispers of a new pattern in the works for the next Tuna series. Hopefully will be ready in spring 2024.

1 other production Scout pattern, only 25 made in early 2015. This is fluted mammoth bark ivory and engraved bolsters by Osieau Metal Arts. The last of my scout patterns was shown earlier in the Timekeeper handles.

Re: Tuna Valley Picture Show
Testing out as many different can openers as possible is sort of a personal mission, so I'm curious as to how that type would perform. You can't deny that those are some beautiful scouts!

Thanks Iman!
Thank you Dan. The opener design was used by Queen over the years, and I believe was originally seen on old Remington knives from pre-WW2. I have to admit I'm not quite sure how to use it either. The curved edge is sharpened just like a knife blade edge. Maybe pre war tin cans had a bit of a different design than today's aluminum cans?

For something a little different, I thought I'd show a few of the knife openers from Tuna Valley.
