You seem slightly baffled by these comments, buddy, so please allow me to enlighten you, that is unless I'm reading you wrong or I'm wrong myself!
"Something old, something new" is what a would-be bride does on her wedding day. She holds or carries or stashes away s/o from her life, as well as s/n from her life.
Exactly what this represents I don't know, but a wild guess is, she's leaving s/o which is her life up until that day, and joining s/n which is her marriage from that day forward.
I can taste the BS in the back of my throat now, but that's how I understand it, if I'm incorrect perhaps one of our happily married, unhappily married, divorced, or widowed members would post the correct meaning of that ritual.

"Something old, something new" refers to a latter point in time after the wedding. It is what the bride takes from you after she files for divorce. And it was actually what I lost in the divorce; An old house that I had bought with my own money for the down payment and the payments made form my paycheck and my new car that was also bought with my own money* from MY job, and MY income*

* ohhh I know... I know "what's yours is mine and what's mine is yours ... except in California Divorce Court ... then everything ends up being hers... ...

Q/S, I have a nice pile of 3 blade Bulldog "stockmen"... but I really like their 5 blade models ... I just haven't had any luck with find any out here locally at my "fishing holes" I think the 5 blades are an awesome knife.

I've been carrying this Boker USA #9361 Camp/Utility around lately. And the bullet blade opener. And so far, my thumbnails haven't broken. Kind of a shame to have to carry the opener but it would be a bigger disappointment to not carry the knife. It reminds me of one I had fifty or sixty years ago, although I doubt it had bone handles & I know it wasn't a Boker. On this thing, I used some fine steel wool on the bail & polishing paper on the blades. It still has a few dimples on the blades but I'd rather have it to carry than a brand new knife.
