Rust tarnish

What will cause my pocket knives to tarnish and rust?Did not have this problem before. Added a few knives and presto tarnish rust.Thanks for any help

You haven't added any celluloid handled knives that might be outgassing have you?
If not, I would suspect a moisture issue of some sort. Perhaps the higher humidity of the summer is playing a role in this.
Can you tell us how and where you store your knives? Also, do you wipe them down with a wax or oil before putting them away?

Thanks Phil I added 2 knives with the handle material you stated.Never had that happen before.Most of my knives are bone I will take those 2 out Thanks again

Not only should you separate them from the rest of your knives, you should separate them from eachother. Chances are it's only one of them causing the problem, though it could be both. I'd give my other knives a good cleaning to remove any residual chemical that might continue to corrode them.

The blades would tend to rust where they stick above the top of the knife in most cases, if it was cell gassing.(also the bolsters closest to the handle and the shield)I would also keep them with blades open and in an open place where the gases can dissipate more easily.

Thanks for the help . Will the blades look new again? They look stained around pull mark area .
