KA-BAR with changeable blades

Post by Eustace »

The photos are from a Bulgarian website for online sales. The seller wants the analogue of $ 350
Of course, I would not buy it at this price, but I found it interesting. Can I have some information, have you seen such a knife and when it was manufactured?

Both KA-Bar and Case, probably others as well, made similar sets having interchangeable blades. Although the interchangeable tools differ somewhat from maker to maker, some makers have knives similar in principle to this day. And I agree, that’s not a bad price for a set in good condition, if you collect such items.

Eustace, KA-BAR made a couple different versions of that set. Note the position of the release lever in both sets, they are different, and the first one you show has a bolster. I believe the blades are correct on both sets. Late 1920s-early 1930s was when they were made. KA-BAR also made a smaller set with a knife blade, fork, and screwdriver/can opener in a smaller pouch. Here in the US near mint examples of the ones you show sell for close to $1,000.
