"Frary& Son XLA warranted October 24 1882" 2 blade pocket knife

Post by RustyBlades »

I got this knife in a bulk lot. Can't find anything about it. Except the company was open from 1881-1884. It appears to be rosewood scales. It snaps like new. Does anyone know anything about this knife or company? It seems to be rare. I can't find anything like it

Thanks

James Frary and Son. Bridgeport, CT. 1876-1884 Ref: Levine’s Guide. Nice knife. Rare. Good luck with it. J.O’.

Doesn’t look like rosewood. Can’t say what wood it is.

On a hunch, I figured this may have been Frary " after L F & C" (?) (Landers, Frary & Clark).
Name and timelines line up a bit, so here ya go for the continued story.

Its funny, of all the products they mention knives (and pocket knives) aren't listed, but they made many.
*update: ooops, they do state cutlery don't they, well GOOD !!

This is a favorite LF&C of mine.
