Yesterday afternoon, my visit to the post office produced this pocket knife. It now becomes my latest example to be posted under this topic or thread. It also becomes the latest example to be added to my collection. It is a CAMILLUS 72 (short line), FIRST GENERATION, three blades, two tang stamps, 3 5/8" closed, swelled center, a long matchstrike and blade pull, "whittler" pattern or style of pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says "CAMILLUS (over) NEW YORK (over) USA" The main blade back tang stamp says "72", the pattern number. I now have a total of 22, short-line tang stamps, CAMILLUS 72 pocket knives. I have 13, FIRST GENERATION, CAMILLUS 72 pocket knives and I have 9, SECOND GENERATION, CAMILLUS 72 pocket knives. The main blade has no half stop, has a weak opening snap and no closing snap. The secondary blade has no half stop and has no opening or closing snap. The third blade has a good half stop, also a good opening snap and a good closing snap. Overall, this pocket knife is in VERY GOOD+ condition. I gave the blades a bit of a cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

I have a total of 39, CAMILLUS 72 pocket knives.
But, if I actually considered my CAMILLUS 1047
pocket knives as CAMILLUS 72 pocket knives, then
I would have a slightly higher total.

Skip, thanks for the kind words .....HOWEVER..... I have lost a of respect for you upon learning you only have a meager 39 #72s .... ... I thought you were a serious collector... Now, it appears you are just messing around and NOT devoted to the #72 by any means... ... A very sad day indeed...

Well................ since it is such a nice 1047 we'll overlook it. Gottal love the black handle 1047's with the federal style shield. Those are my favorites. That is a nice one and the handles haven't gone all "Shrinky Dink" like you see on some. Great find.

I had 18, C-WADE7 (Coley) won one of my long lines.
Double lines-0. (not looking for these)
