Thanks a lot Quick, one of my faves. Gets better looking with age.Quick Steel wrote: ↑Mon Aug 14, 2023 2:04 pm Iman, I am especially fond of those yellow scales. But both knives look very fine.
Beautiful horn on that Coyote. Great looking knife.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
It's hard to say about knives or anything else for that matter coming from Etsy, Kim.
The Etsy policies are not nearly as strict as ebay, and that makes me think it's very easy for a seller to offer sub-par items. I know a couple of things I bought from Etsy sellers arrived and I was disappointed, but as a rule they seem alright to me.
They have a no automatic knives to be offered for sale policy just like ebay, yet there are multiple autos offered and sold, and that tells me they have bigger concerns elsewhere, and certainly no time to monitor auto sales. On the other hand, I've received a couple of my nicest knives from Etsy, so I consider shopping there as hit or miss. I do know that some sellers at Etsy buy counterfeits from DHGate.com and/or AliExpress.com , and sell them in their Etsy stores at highly inflated prices and descriptions that state they're genuine, so be careful.
That being said, the knives you posted look fine to my eye, not something I would pursue, but totally acceptable knives and definite keepers, provided you didn't overpay for them. JMHO.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
It's more than hard to judge quality by photos alone other than the appearance. In hand you can determine if there is any wobble in the blade. Does it open and close firmly; not difficult to open. Is the blade centered well within the handle or, when closed, is the blade off center, i.e. pushed to the left or right. Any fine cracks developing at the bolsters or pins?
These are just a few things you will be able to evaluate with the knives in hand.

Sheep are getting sheared tomorrow, and I figured I'll keep the RR Denim Micarta Loomfixer (aka Half Hawk) on me. The Sheepsfoot gets its name for being designed to trim sheep's hooves, and it's not pointy enough to do accidental damage. It's also cheap to replace if something happens to it.
Besides, it was the only sharp sheepsfoot I had available, as all my others need sharpening.

So, I own a "sheepfoot" that has a maple handle. I also have found myself a Playmobil cowgirl thanks to you

Thank you. The fixed blade is the the Coyote model with sheep horn covers. Made by Dave Ferry of Horsewright Knives. The Lamb is a Lambsfoot bladed knife with Katalow wood covers made by Eric Albers of Albers Cutlery Co.

Cool knife, Kim. I like the vintage looking frame with the modern looking blade.Kimzilla wrote: ↑Tue Aug 15, 2023 2:24 am Hey Cody, another great set up for your knife post - I must say I really appreciate themI also learned recently that a "sheepfoot" is not a type of handle material, it is the shape of the blade and what a "dog leg" is

Great handles too..
Oh, and add an "s" to sheep. It's "sheepsfoot". Lots to learn. I've been collecting for about 53 years and still learn something everyday. It's getting easier to learn, since I forget 2 or 3 things everyday also!
