Nice Theo! I just picked up a short-line #89 with Indian Stag like yours ... My question is how is it possible to have a pre 1960 #89 model seeing that they were made later on?

Knice carries from everyone, as usual!
Today I'm going with one that's too good to not carry (at least on occasion).

Thanks, Kim!
I'm pretty sure my 72 is Delrin. I have looked at it with the strongest magnification I have available. The thread linked below gives a good explanation:

Kimzilla wrote: ↑Sun Aug 13, 2023 5:33 am A Moki - very nice!!!! The shinier than a mirror blade is awesome, I'm not sure if that's typical for all truly authentic Japanese knives, but I do know that's what Koji Hara uses as well.
I'm loving the handle - what is it made out of?
What an exceptional piece you have there!!!
Thanks for the praise, about made me blush. It's Quince wood and has cool grain. Yeah super shiney blade, not my fave, but love the knife. Thanks again.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU CARRYIN RIGHT NOW? WHAT IS YOUR FAV EDC?
Agreed. The more you handle traditional pocket knives, the easier it can be to identify handle materials from pictures, but sometimes you just can not tell until you have that specific knife in your hands.
Sometimes I miss it even then. I still struggle seeing the difference between new Water Buffalo horn and black plastic.
I once broke the handles on a knife that I was taking apart because I thought that they were white plastic. Instead they were highly polished bone, and I was too rough with it.
