Corn Knife

Post by ashwinearl »

Does anyone have insight on a Corn Knife. I saw this on eBay and bought it with the intention of taking it apart and using it for a pattern.

I was drawn to the swedge, the way it sits low in the liner with small cut out to reach the long pull. Surprisingly small knife in hand compared to the.pictures online.

The examples on eBay all shared similarities in curvature in blade. Somewhere I read it was for trimming corns on feet. Ew. I inititially thought it was for corn on the cob!, yellow synthetic or bone handles and " Corn Knife" engraved on the handle. The corn knife engraving fonts varied knife to knife and direction the knife was viewed to read the writing varied.

Yes they were used for cutting corns on feet. That's why the blade has that sort of scalpel shape to the end and that bit of recurve in the middle.

Exactly. Case made one with the traditional razor for a blade.

Add a pumice stone blade and you got yourself a nice little foot knife there. LoL

Plus you said Swedge, so here I am...

I walk 10,000+ steps a day, glad I don't need to use one of those. 😅
